Seorang anak merupakan tanggung jawab orang tua dalam hal sandang, pangan, dan papan. Namun, tidak semua orang tua mampu untuk memenuhi kebutuhan tersebut. Keadaan ini sering dialami oleh anak pertama yang dituntut untuk ikut bertanggung jawab dalam masalah finansial rendah yang mencakup kebutuhan orang tua dan saudara kandung. Penciptaan novel Angkat Harkat yang mengangkat tema ini bertujuan untuk mengedukasi kepada masyarakat untuk memutus tali sandwich generation dengan memperbaiki finansial sejak dini. Penciptaan novel ini menggunakan metode Art Based Research atau penelitian berbasis seni yang menghasilkan proyek atau artefak karya. Penelitian ini melalui lima tahapan yang terdiri atas tahap persiapan, tahap konsentrasi, tahap inkubasi, tahap iluminasi, dan tahap verifikasi. Proses penelitian berbasis seni ini menggunakan teknik wawancara, observasi di media sosial, dan studi literatur. Penciptaan novel ini dinilai menggunakan instrumen penilaian Great Wheels yang memiliki empat aspek penilaian seperti aspek pedagogis, aspek ideologis, aspek puitis, dan aspek pementingan pembaca. Hasil akumulasi penilaian menunjukkan bahwa novel Angkat Harkat memenuhi kriteria yang disimpulkan dari hasil akhir dengan nilai 99,44%. The creation of novel Angkat Harkat raises the theme of sandwich generation phenomenon that occurs in many communities. A child is the responsibility of parents in terms of clothing, food, and board. However, not all parents can afford to meet these needs. This situation is often experienced by the first child who is required to take responsibility for low financial matters that include the needs of parents and siblings. The creation of novel Angkat Harkat which raises this theme aims to educate the public to break the sandwich generation by improving finances from an early age. The creation of this novel uses the Art Based Research method or art-based research that produces projects or artifacts of works. This research went through five stages consisting of the preparation stage, concentration stage, incubation stage, illumination stage, and verification stage. This art-based research process uses interview techniques, observation on social media, and literature studies. The creation of this novel was assessed using the Great Wheels assessment instrument which has four aspects of assessment such as pedagogical aspects, ideological aspects, poetic aspects, and reader perception aspects.
