"Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk untuk menganalisis proses enkulturasi nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter dalam folkways tradisi mardemban di Desa Huta Tinggi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode etnografi. Subjek penelitian yaitu terdiri dari 10 orang termasuk tokoh masyarakat, guru, serta pelaku tradisi. Tempat utama penelitian yaitu di Desa Huta Tinggi. Namun, untuk memperkaya analisis dan memahami keberagaman praktik budaya serupa, sumber tambahan juga diperoleh dari Desa Sumberharjo dan Kampung Naga. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara in dept interview, observasi partisipan dan nonpartisipan, dokumentasi, dan kajian Pustaka. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis data kualitatiff dengan pengkategorian data menggunakan Software QSR Nvivo 12 Plus Windows. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan awal mengenal tradisi mardemban yaitu dari keluarga termasuk orang tua dan saudara di rumahnya, lingkungan masyarakat sekitar dan melalui acara adat. Usia pertama kali informan mencoba makan daun sirih paling banyak di usia 6-10 tahun, dengan alasan kebiasaan dan ketertarikan. Biasanya tradisi ini dilakukan dalam kehidupan masyarakat, ritual keagamaan, acara adat, pesta, dan acara peletakan batu pertama. Pelaku tradisi dilakukan mulai dari anak-anak, remaja, ibu-ibu, bapak-bapak, dan panatua. Adapun nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter yang muncul pada tradisi mardemban yaitu peduli sosial, cinta tanah air, tanggung jawab, religious, komunikatif, kesabaran, saling berbagi dan jujur. Proses enkulturasi terjadi melalui partisipasi keluarga, interaksi masyarakat, pendidikan informal, sekolah dan ritual adat.\r\n\r\nThis study aims to analyze the process of enculturation of character education values in the folkways of the mardemban tradition in Huta Tinggi Village. The research method used is a qualitative approach with ethnographic methods. The research subjects consisted of 10 people including community leaders, teachers, and tradition actors. The main place of research is in Huta Tinggi Village. However, to enrich the analysis and understand the diversity of similar cultural practices, additional sources were also obtained from Sumberharjo Village and Naga Traditional Village. Data collection techniques were conducted using in-depth interviews, participant and non-participant observation, documentation, and literature review. Data analysis in this study used qualitative data analysis techniques with data categorization using QSR Nvivo 12 Plus Windows Software. The results showed that the informants were first introduced to the mardemban tradition from their families, including parents and siblings at home, the surrounding community and through traditional events. The age of the first time informants tried to eat betel leaves was mostly at the age of 6-10 years, citing habit and interest. Usually this tradition is carried out in community life, religious rituals, traditional events, parties, and groundbreaking events. The perpetrators of the tradition are children, teenagers, mothers, fathers, and elders. The character education values that appear in the mardemban tradition are social care, love for the country, responsibility, religious, communicative, patience, sharing and honesty.
