The phases of Kübler-ross?s model consists: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. In this movie, there are two grieving characters involving Shinji Ikari, the main character of the movie, and Gendo Ikari who is the main antagonist of the story and also father of Shinji. Anger, depression, and acceptance are three of the five stages of grief that Shinji Ikari goes through. Whereas, Gendo Ikari exemplifies the other two stages: bargaining and denial. These findings on mise-en-scene and cinematography components relating to the portrayal of stages of grief outline how filmmakers convey emotional development of characters through visual presentation.
