The phenomenon of prostitution remains a compelling subject of discussion due to its enduring presence in social dynamics from the past to the present. Its persistent allure to certain individuals creates a complex dilemma that demands serious attention from society and policymakers. This study focuses on understanding the factors that drive women to become Commercial Sex Workers (CSWs) and explores the modus operandi of prostitution practices that are concealed behind the facade of tourist areas. It examines in detail practices that are not openly visible but have a significant impact on the social dynamics of local communities. The urgency of this research stems from the lack of in-depth studies on the intersection of tourism and the sex industry, despite its recognized presence. A deeper understanding is required to effectively address and manage this phenomenon. The research was conducted in the Lembang tourist area, chosen due to the annual increase in visitors. This study employs a qualitative research method with a case study approach. Data were collected through interviews with villa agents, pimps, and four Commercial Sex Workers, participatory observation, and document analysis. The findings reveal that women's decisions to become CSWs in the Lembang tourist area are influenced not only by Coleman's rational choice theory but also by patriarchal exploitation, situational pressures, and social influences. Radical feminist theory views prostitution as a form of oppression of women's bodies, while liberal feminism emphasizes the importance of access to education and skills as alternative solutions to avoid such exploitation. The modus operandi of prostitution practices points to a complex social network, where the involvement of various parties, the use of communication technologies, and the exploitation of strategic locations indicate a transformation of tourist areas into hubs for increasingly organized and hard-to-detect covert prostitution activities. date: 2024-08-29 date_type: published institution: Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia department: KODEPRODI87204#Pendidikan Sosiologi_S1 thesis_type: other thesis_name: other official_url: https://repository.upi.edu/ related_url_url: https://perpustakaan.upi.edu/ related_url_type: org citation: Maitria Prada Yusup, - (2024) MODUS OPERANDI PRAKTIK PROSTITUSI TERSELUBUNG DI KAWASAN WISATA LEMBANG.
