The qualitative research method involves a detailed narrative and textual analysis of the movie by using Bordwell & Thompson’s formal system analysis to identify instances and consequences of nepotism. The study reveals how Percy Wetmore's character, who secures his position as a prison guard through familial connections, disrupts the institutional order, affects his colleagues, and worsen the suffering of inmates. Nepotism undermines professional relationships, authority, and creates a toxic environment that disrupts the prison's rehabilitative goals. This research contributes to the broader understanding of power dynamics and social issues as portrayed in literature and film.
