Adapun penelitian ini dilakukan berdasarkan pada pelayanan pendidikan menjadi salah satu kebutuhan pokok masyarakat dalam era saat ini. Untuk memenuhi kebutuhan ini, penting bahwa fasilitas pendidikan tersedia secara merata agar mudah diakses oleh seluruh lapisan masyarakat. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, peneliti melakukan penelitian di Kecamatan Jatinangor Kabupaten Sumedang dengan tujuan yaitu: 1) mengetahui persebaran sekolah dasar dan menengah, 2) mengetahui aksesibilitas peserta didik ke sekolah, 3) mengetahui fasilitas dan lingkungan sekolah dasar dan menengah. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa: 1) persebaran lokasi sekolah dasar dan menengah memiliki pola bergerombol dan jumlah sekolah dasar dan menengah masih perlu ditambah fasilitasnya 2) Infrastruktur aksesibilitas di Kecamatan Jatinangor masih berlubang sehingga aksesibilitas peserta didik dasar dan menengah kurang optimal, adapun transportasi umum yang belum menjangkau keseluruh desa, dan fasilitas penunjang keselamatan di perjalan seperti lampu lalu lintas masih minim adanya, sehingga aksesibilitas peserta didik dasar dan menengah masih belum memadai. 3) fasilitas dan lingkungan sekolah keseluruhan secara umum mendukung proses pembelajaran di sekolah dasar dan menengah, namun masih terdapat masalah terkait polusi udara dan suara di beberapa desa yang dapat mengganggu kelancaran kegiatan pembelajaran di sekolah dasar dan menengah. Kata Kunci: Fasilitas Pendidikan, Persebaran sekolah, Infrastruktur ABSTRACT The research is titled "Geographical Information System-based School Location Study (A Study of Primary Education in Jatinangor Subdistrict, Sumedang Regency)". This research is conducted based on the understanding that educational services have become a fundamental necessity in the current era. To fulfill this need, it is crucial that educational facilities are evenly distributed for easy accessibility by all segments of society. With this perspective in mind, the researcher conducted a study in Jatinangor Subdistrict, Sumedang Regency, with the following objectives: 1) to understand the distribution of primary and secondary schools, 2) to assess the accessibility of students to schools, and 3) to evaluate the facilities and school environment of primary and secondary schools. The methodology employed for this research involves a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research findings indicate that: 1) the distribution of primary and secondary school locations exhibits a clustering pattern, and there is still a need for additional facilities in both types of schools; 2) The infrastructure for accessibility in Jatinangor Subdistrict still exhibits deficiencies, leading to suboptimal accessibility for primary and secondary students. Public transportation does not yet reach all villages, and safety facilities on the road, such as traffic lights, are inadequately provided, resulting in inadequate accessibility for primary and secondary students. 3) Overall, the facilities and school environment support the learning process in primary and secondary schools. However, there are still concerns regarding air and noise pollution in several villages, which could disrupt the smooth conduct of educational activities in these schools.
