Kartika Sari: 6681781 abstract: This study entitled, “The Use of Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) in Teaching Reading Comprehension: A Quasi Experimental Research of Eleventh Graders at One SMAN in East Bandung” is aimed at investigating the effect of Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) as one of comprehension strategy instruction proposed by Klingner et. al (1998) on students’ reading comprehension as well as finding out the students’ responses toward the implementation of CSR. The study were done by applying four CRS’ reading strategies namely preview, click & clunk, get the gist, and wrap up in the classroom. The design used in this study was quasi experimental in which the participants were 70 eleventh graders from two classes at one SMAN in East Bandung. The data were collected through a pre-test, post-test, questionnaire, and interview. The data gathered through pre-test and post-test were computed using t-test while data from questionnaire and interview were analyzed based on the frequency of students’ answers and then were calculated and interpreted into percentage. The findings indicated that the implementation of CSR had significantly improved students’ reading comprehension (tobt2.367>tcrit1.6676). In addition, the result of data analysis from questionnaire and interview showed that the implementation of CSR was positively responded by most of the students. The findings of the study indicated that implementing CSR in teaching reading helped students comprehend English texts better. date: 2012-04-27 date_type: published institution: Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia department: KODEPRODI88203#Pendidikan_Bahasa_Inggris_S1 thesis_type: other thesis_name: other official_url: http://repository.upi.edu/ related_url_url: https://perpustakaan.upi.edu/ related_url_type: org citation: Dita Andanawari, - (2012) THE USE OF COLLABORATIVE STRATEGIC READING (CSR) IN TEACHING READING COMPREHENSION : A Quasi Experimental Study of the Eleventh Grade Students at One SMAN in East Bandung.
