Model Problem Based Learning (PBL) diharapkan dapat dijadikan solusi dari permasalahan tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa yang mendapatkan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) lebih baik dibandingkan dengan siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran konvensional, serta mengetahui pengaruh model Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian jenis quasi experiment dengan bentuk non-equivalent control group design. Sampel dalam penelitian ini yakni siswa kelas Va dan Vb pada salah satu Sekolah Dasar Negeri di Purwakarta. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan berbentuk soal uraian dan dokumentasi. Instrumen tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah digunakan untuk memperoleh data kuantitatif pretest dan posttest siswa. Bedasarkan hasil penelitian yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa sekolah dasar yang mendapatkan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran konvensional dilihat peolehan rata-rata n-gain sebesar 0.4957 pada kelas eksperimen dan 0.2057 pada kelas kontrol; 2) Terdapat pengaruh penerapan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa sekolah dasar dilihat dari uji regresi linear sederhana sebesar 63,7%. Dengan demikian model Problem Based Learning (PBL) direkomendasikan oleh penulis sebagai alternatif pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa sekolah dasar. ----- The background of this research is the low problem-solving ability of students caused by the use of the learning model used by the teacher which is dominated by lectures and memorizing formulas. The Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model is expected to be a solution to these problems. The purpose of this study is to determine the increase in problem-solving abilities of students who receive the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model with students who receive conventional learning and to determine the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on students' problem-solving abilities. This research is a quasi-experimental type of research with a non-equivalent control group design. The sample in this study were students of classes Va and Vb at a public elementary school in Purwakarta. The research instrument used is in the form of essay question and documentation. Problem-solving ability test instrument is used to obtain pretest and posttest quantitative data of students. Based on the research results obtained, shows that: 1) The improvement in the problem-solving skills of elementary school students who receive the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model is better than students who receive conventional learning, this can be seen from the average n-gain of 0.4957 in experimental class and 0.2057 in the control class; 2) There is an effect of applying the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model to increasing the problem-solving abilities of elementary school students as seen from the simple linear regression test of 63.7%.
