Abstract
Calon guru PAI sebagai garda terdepan dalam menciptakan kultur toleran di sekolah, perlu memiliki persepsi yang benar tentang toleransi beragama. Sekaitan dengan hal tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi sejauh mana persepsi mahasiswa PAI sebagai calon guru terhadap toleransi beragama. Desain komparatif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dipilih dalam penelitian ini untuk membandingkan persepsi mahasiswa calon guru PAI di salah satu Perguruan Tinggi Negeri (PTN) di Bandung dan salah satu Perguruan Tinggi Swasta (PTS) di Jakarta. Data terkait persepsi didapatkan melalui angket berbentuk skala likert sebanyak 15 item terkait toleransi antar umat beragama, dan 16 item terkait toleransi terhadap madzhab Islam minoritas. Sample dalam penelitian ini adalah 134 responden yang bersedia berpartisipasi dan mengembalikan angket penelitian melalui google form dengan rincian 60 mahasiswa PTN dan 74 mahasiswa PTS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, dalam hal persepsi terhadap toleransi antar umat beragama, hampir seluruh responden baik di PTN (83,8%) dan di PTS (78,6%) memiliki persepsi yang toleran. Begitu pula dalam hal toleransi terhadap madzhab Islam minoritas, lebih dari setengah (57,05%) responden di PTN dan hampir setengah (45,57%) responden di PTS memiliki kecenderungan persepsi yang toleran. Temuan penelitian merekomendasikan beberapa hal berikut: (1) perlunya penguatan khusus bagi mahasiswa PAI terkait toleransi beragama. (2) untuk penelitian selanjutnya sebaiknya meneliti model pembelajaran yang diberikan sebagai salah satu faktor pendukung adanya perbedaan tingkat toleransi mahasiswa.: As the vanguard in creating a tolerant culture in schools, PAI teacher candidates need to have the right perception of religious tolerance. In this regard, this study aims to explore to what extent religious tolerance is perceived by PAI students as prospective teachers. For this study, a comparative design with a quantitative approach is preferred to compare the perceptions of prospective PAI teacher students at one of the State Universities (PTN) in Bandung and with the one in the Private Universities (PTS) in Jakarta. Data related to perceptions were obtained through a questionnaire in the form of Likert scale with as many as 15 items related to inter-religious tolerance, and 16 items related to the tolerance towards minority Islamic schools of thought. The sample of this study referred to 134 respondents who participated and submitted the research questionnaire through google forms consisting of 60 PTN students and 74 PTS students. The study results show that, in terms of perceptions of inter-religious tolerance, almost all respondents at PTN (83.8%) and at PTS (78.6%) have a tolerant perception. Likewise in terms of tolerance towards minority Islamic schools of thought, more than half of respondents at PTN (57.05%) and almost half of respondents at PTS (45.57%) have a tolerant perception tendency. Referring to the research findings recommends the following: (1) the need for special reinforcement for PAI students regarding religious tolerance. (2) for further research, it is better to examine the learning model given as one of the supporting factors for differences in student tolerance levels.
