Abstract

This research is motivated by the low ability to understand students in the material direct current. The purpose of this study was to obtain an overview of the increase in the ability to understand students' concepts by applying the 5E Learning Cycle model assisted by analogy. The method used is a pre-experimental design with the form of one group pretest-posttest. The sample in this study was 32 students of class XII at The Highschool in Jakarta. The instruments used were multiple choice comprehension test questions, observation sheets on the implementation of the learning model, and questionnaires on student responses to the application of the learning model using N-Gain and percentages. The results of the study show that the Cycle 5E learning model assisted by analogy can increase in students ability to understand with a N-Gain score of 0.71, which means that the increase in understanding ability is included in the category tall. The implementation of the learning model carried out by the teacher is included in the very good category. Implementation of the Cycle 5E learning model with the help of analogy can improve students ability to understand concepts, and get positive responses from students. Keywords: 5E Learning Cycle, Analogy, Ability to Understand.
