Abstract

“Geheime Staatpolizei (Gestapo), merupakan lembaga polisi rahasia pada masa Third Reich Jerman. Gestapo berfungsi sebagai badan kepolisian sekaligus intelijen untuk mengawasi dan menangkap siapapun yang merupakan oposisi pemerintahan Nazi. Kiprah Gestapo berawal ketika Nazi meraih tampuk kekuasaan dalam pemerintahan Reich Jerman hingga berakhir bersama dengan kekalahan Jerman pada Perang Dunia Ke II. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kiprah Gestapo sebagai polisi rahasia selama pemerintahan Nazi Jerman, baik perannya dalam spionase, propaganda politik ataupun perannya dalam suksesi pembersihan etnis yang menjadi tujuan rezim Nazi atau dikenal dengan Holocaust. Selama masa sebelum Perang Dunia ke II, Gestapo berfokus kepada operasi terhadap oposisi politik pemimpin Gestapo baik dari dalam Partai Nazi ataupun dari luar Partai. Sedangkan pada masa Perang Dunia ke II pecah, Gestapo berperan banyak dalam melaksanakan tugas pembersihan etnis baik didalam maupun diluar Reich Jerman. Permasalahan utama penelitian ini kemudian dibagi kedalam empat pertanyaan penelitian” (1) Bagaimana latar belakang terbentuknya Gestapo? (2) Bagaimana Peran Gestapo dalam Spionase, Politik dan Propaganda pada masa sebelum Perang Dunia II? (3) Bagaimana Peran Gestapo dalam Spionase dan pembersihan etnis pada masa Perang Dunia II, (4) Bagaimana Dampak peran Gestapo terhadap masyarakat Jerman dan daerah yang dikuasai? Penelitian ini dilakukan atas urgensi untuk memberikan sumbangsih terhadap pengembangan penulisan sejarah intelektual dan perluasan pengetahuan sejarah mengenai pasukan-pasukan Nazi Jerman Penelitian ini menggunakan metode historis yang terdiri dari heuristik, kritik, interptetasi, dan historiografi. Penelitian ini juga menggunakan pendekatan multidisipliner dengan mengambil konsep-konsep filsadat dan ilmu politik juga psikologi dalam upaya mengkaji tema penelitian yang dibahas. Kata Kunci: Gestapo, Polisi Rahasia, Nazi, Spionase, Yahudi. “Geheime Staatpolizei (Gestapo), was a secret police agency during the German Third Reich. The Gestapo functioned as both a police and intelligence agency to monitor and arrest anyone who was in opposition to the Nazi government. The Gestapo's work began when the Nazis came to power in the German Reich government until it ended with Germany's defeat in World War II. This study aims to analyze the work of the Gestapo as secret police during the reign of Nazi Germany, both its role in espionage and political propaganda choice its role in the succession of ethnic cleansing which became the goal of the Nazi regime or known as the Holocaust. During the pre-World War II period, the Gestapo focused on operations against political opposition to Gestapo leaders from either within the Nazi Party or from outside the Party. Meanwhile, when World War II broke out, the Gestapo played many roles in carrying out ethnic cleansing tasks both inside and outside the German Reich. The main problems of this research are then divided into four research questions” (1) What is the background for the formation of the Gestapo? (2) What was the Role of the Gestapo in Espionage, Politics, Propaganda in the pre-World War II period? (3) What was the role of the Gestapo in espionage and ethnic cleansing during World War II, (4) What was the impact of the role of the Gestapo on German society and the areas it controlled? This research was carried out with the urgency to contribute to the development of intellectual history writing and the expansion of historical knowledge about the troops of Nazi Germany. This research uses historical methods consisting of heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. This research also uses a multidisciplinary approach by taking the concepts of philosophy and political science as well as psychology to examine the research themes discussed.
