Abstract
ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan area, alasan, dan indikator prokrastinasi akademik dan untuk mendeskripsikan perbedaan area prokrastinasi akademik mahasiswa pascasarjana berdasarkan latar belakang demografi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah survei dengan jenis cross sectional survey. Jumlah responden dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 201 mahasiswa dengan teknik pengambilan sampel convinience sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah angket. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah procrastination assessment student scale (PASS) dan indikator prokrastinasi akademik. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji Mann Withney dan uji Kruskal Wallis. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan 77% mahasiswa mengalami prokrastinasi pada area persiapan menghadapi ujian, 74% mengalami prokrastinasi pada area menulis makalah/laporan, 69% mengalami prokrastinasi pada area membaca sumber referensi, 65% mengalami prokrastinasi pada area konsultasi dengan dosen pembiming akademik, 58% mengalami prokrastinasi pada area tugas administratif akademik, 58% mengalami prokrastinasi pada area menghadiri kuliah. Faktor penyebab mahasiswa Pascasarjana UPI melakukan penundaan akademik ialah takut sukses dengan persentase 66%. Indikator prokrastinasi yang dilakukan mahasiswa lebih didominasi pada aspek tindakan sebesar 57%. Berdasarkan hasil uji statistik diketahui tidak terdapat perbedaan area prokrastinasi akademik berdasarkan jenjang Pendidikan dan jenis kelamin. Terdapat perbedaan area menulis makalah/laporan berdasarkan latar belakang Pendidikan, terdapat perbedaan area konsultasi dengan dosen pembimbing akademik berdasarkan semester. ABSTRACT This research aimed to describe area, cause, and indicator of academical procrastination, and to know the differences of academical procrastination area of postgraduate college student based on demography background. This research used survey method which involved cross sectional survey. The respondents are 201 postgraduate college students used convinience sampling technique. The data collection that was used in this research is questionnaire. The instrument that was used in this research is procrastination assessment student scale (PASS) and academical procrastination indicator. The data analysis which used in this research is Mann Withney tests and Kruskal Wallis tests. The result of this research showed that 77% of students procrastinate in study for an exam, 74% of students procrastinate in writing a term paper, 69% of students procrastinate in keeping up with weekly reading assignments, 65% of students procrastinate in consultation with academical adviser lecture, 58% of students procrastinate in academic administrative assignment, 58% of students procrastinate in attending course. The main cause of postgraduate college students in Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia conducted the academical procrastination is fear of success 66%. The indicator of procrastination which done with postgraduate college students dominated by action aspect more is 57%. Moreover, in statistical test, there were not significant differences of academical procrastination area according to education level and gender. There were differences of writing report or paper area according to education background. There were differences of consulting with academical adviser lecture area according to their semester.
