Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh semakin pesatnya perkembangan media digital yang hadir ditengah-tengah lingkungan orang tua dan anak, namun kehadiran media digital tersebut diikuti dengan munculnya dampak terhadap perkembangan anak baik secara positif maupun negatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pendampingan orang tua dalam literasi bahasa anak usia dini dengan memanfaatkan media digital di Desa Sukawangi Kecamatan Singajaya Kabupaten Garut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi kasus dimana peneliti mengumpulkan informasi melalui kegiatan wawancara dan dokumentasi aktivitas orang tua dan anak dalam memanfaatkan media digital yang dilakukan kepada 3 partisipan. Analisis data pada penelitian ini dilakukan melalui analisis data secara tematik. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa orang tua memahami media digital memiliki dampak terhadap perkembangan anak baik berupa dampak negatif maupun dampak positif. Orang tua memanfaatkan konten media digital dalam literasi bahasa anak melalui kegiatan menonton video animasi, bermain game edukasi dan sesekali mendengarkan musik video. Selama pemanfaatan tersebut orang tua melakukan pendampingan penggunaan media digital yang dilakukan melalui pengawasan dan kontrol, mediasi dan juga memberikan teladan. Meski pendampingan sudah dilakukan, orang tua merasa masih mengalami hambatan-hambatan sehingga pendampingan dirasakan belum optimal. Hambatan-hambatan tersebut berupa ketersediaan waktu, karena orang tua sulit membagi waktu antara mendampingi anak dalam menggunakan media digital dan menuntaskan pekerjaan serta konsistensi dalam mendampingi anak saat menggunakan media digital. This research is motivated by the development of digital media which is increasingly present in the family environment especially for early childhood, but this phenomenon is followed by many impacts on children's development both positively and negatively. The purpose of this study is to know how parental assistance in early childhood to develop language literacy by utilizing digital media in Sukawangi Village, Singajaya District, Garut. The research method which used is a case study. The researcher collects information through interviews and documentation of parents and children's activities by utilizing digital media which is carried out on 3 participants. Data analysis was carried out through thematic data analysis. The results of the study revealed that parents understand that digital media has many impacts on children's development, both negative or positive impacts. Parents take advantages of digital media content in children's language literacy by watching animated videos, playing educational games and watching music videos. Parents provide assistance in the use of digital media through supervision and control, mediation and giving good examples in using digital media in front of their children. Even though the assistance has been carried out, parents feel that they are still have problems in assistance which is not yet really optimal. This problem is in the form of time availability, because parents find it difficult to divide their time between assistance children in using digital media and completing their work. Parental consistency is also a problem in assistance children using digital media.
