Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis antara siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) dengan siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran direct instruction, baik secara keseluruhan maupun berdasarkan kategori Kemampuan Awal Matematis (KAM) siswa. Selain itu, dikaji pula sikap siswa terhadap model pembelajaran Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian non-equivalent control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII di salah satu SMP Negeri di Kota Bandung tahun ajaran 2022/2023. Sampel yang digunakan sebanyak dua kelas, dengan kelas eksperimen sebanyak 30 siswa dan kelas kontrol sebanyak 30 siswa. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah instrumen tes dan non tes. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh kesimpulan: 1) Peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran direct instruction. 2) Terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis antara siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) dengan siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran direct instruction berdasarkan Kemampuan Awal Matematis (KAM) siswa tinggi, sedang dan rendah. 3) Siswa dengan kemampuan awal matematis tinggi memiliki peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis lebih tinggi dibandingkan siswa dengan kemampuan awal matematis sedang dan rendah. Sementara itu, siswa dengan kemampuan awal matematis sedang memiliki peningkatan yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan siswa dengan kemampuan awal matematis kategori rendah. 4) Secara umum, hampir seluruh siswa menunjukkan sikap positif terhadap model pembelajaran Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP). Kata kunci: Kemampuan pemecahan masalah, Missouri Mathematics Project, Kemampuan awal matematis The research aims to know the difference in improving mathematical problem-solving ability between students who get the Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) learning model with students who get the Direct Instruction learning model, overall or based on the student’s Early Mathematical Ability. Besides, also explained students' attitudes towards the Missouri Mathematics Project learning model. The research method used is quasi-experimental with a research design non-equivalent control group design. The population in this research is all eighth-grade students in one of the Junior High Schools in Bandung City for the 2022/2023 academic year. The sample used is two classes, with the experimental class with as many as 30 students and the control class with as many as 30 students. The research instrument used a test and non-test instruments. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that:1) The increase in mathematical problem-solving abilities of students who received the Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) learning model was higher than students who received the direct instruction learning model. 2) There are differences in the improvement of mathematical problem-solving abilities between students who received the Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) learning model and students who received the direct instruction learning model based on high, medium and low Mathematical Initial Ability (KAM) students. 3) Students with high initial mathematical abilities have higher mathematical problem-solving abilities compared to students with moderate and low initial mathematical abilities. Meanwhile, students with moderate early mathematical ability have a greater improvement than students with the low mathematical initial ability. 4) In general, almost all students show a positive attitude towards the Missouri Mathematics Project learning model.
