Abstract

Cognitive problems in elementary school are still a serious problem. This causes delays in success in the learning process. The method used is not adequate to improve students' cognitive. Socratic method is a solution where the method forces students to analyze a problem and think critically. Through traditional games fortifications can make the learning process feel fun. The purpose of this research is to improve students' cognitive through traditional games of fortification and using the socratic method. Participants in this study were grade III students at SDN Adiwarno with a total of 25 students. The data collection uses tests and documentation in the analysis using SPSS. The method used is quantitative method with one group design. (English) Based on the results of the analysis conducted, there is an increase in cognitive level as much as 29%, which means that the socratic method is suitable for use in learning in elementary schools. In addition, the traditional games used, namely fortifications, can have a positive impact, namely as the advancement of culture. It can be concluded that this method is suitable to be applied and can be used as a reference in the learning process and in its application a more in-depth analysis is needed so that the results achieved are more leverage.
