Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini didasarkan banyaknya multitafsir penggunaan emotikon pada pesan aplikasi WhatsApp sebagai pesan non verbal menggantikan gestur tubuh dan ekspresi wajah manusia terutama bagi peserta didik yang baru mengenal emosi dirinya. Salah satu pemahaman penting yang berkaitan dengan emosi adalah literasi emosi yang ditanamkan baik sejak dini. Memperhatikan hal tersebut perlu dilakukan analisis terhadap muatan yang terdapat pada emotikon sebagai representasi literasi emosi. Oleh karena itu peneliti bertujuan untuk menggali representasi literasi emosi melalui emotikon aplikasi WhatsApp. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian dengan metode analisis konten dan pendekatan kualitatif. Proses pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini melakukan dokumentasi screenshoot pada group kelas ataupun personal chat peserta didik. Teknik pengolahan data penelitian ini mentabulasikan data berdasarkan aspek literasi emosi menurut teori Stainer dan Perry Setiap manusia memiliki aspek emosi dasar semenjak dilahirkan terutama bagi peserta didik sekolah dasar, salah satu cara untuk mengelola emosi dengan mempunyai literasi emosi. Literasi emosi memiliki 5 aspek diantaranya, mengetahui perasaan diri, kemampuan untuk mengakui emosi, kemampuan untuk berempati, kemampuan untuk mengatasi dan memperbaiki kersuakan emosi, dan kemampuan untuk memahami dunia dalam konteks sosial. Emotikon sebagai salah satu bentuk gambar digital berbentuk wajah yang memiliki disain bermacam-macam dan juga dapat dikaitkan dengan emosi serta literasi emosi. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa emotikon aplikasi WhatsApp sudah mencangkup aspek literasi emosi dilihat dari percakapan peserta didik saat menggunakan Aplikasi WhatsApp. ABSTRACT This research is based on the many interpretations of the use of emoticons in WhatsApp application messages as non-verbal messages replacing human body gestures and facial expressions, especially for students who are new to their emotions. One of the important understandings related to emotions is emotional literacy that is instilled early on. Noting this, it is necessary to analyze the content contained in emoticons as a representation of emotional literacy. Therefore, the researcher aims to explore the representation of emotional literacy through the emoticons of the WhatsApp application. This study uses a research design with content analysis methods and qualitative approaches. The process of collecting data in this study was to document screenshots in class groups or personal chats of students. This research data processing technique tabulates data based on emotional literacy aspects according to Stainer and Perry theory. Every human being has basic emotional aspects since birth, especially for elementary school students, one way to manage emotions is to have emotional literacy. Emotional literacy has 5 aspects including knowing one's feelings, the ability to recognize emotions, the ability to empathize, the ability to cope with and correct emotional disturbances, and the ability to understand the world in a social context. Emoticons as a form of digital image in the form of a face that have various designs and can also be associated with emotions and emotional literacy. Thus, it can be concluded that the WhatsApp application emoticon has covered aspects of emotional literacy seen from the conversations of students when using the WhatsApp application.
