Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa di kelas IV sekolah dasar di sekolah negeri di kota Pekanbaru. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh model PQ4R (Preview Question Read Reflect Recite dan Review) berbantu teks cerita rakyat melayu Riau dalam pembelajaran membaca pemahaman siswa kelas IV di sekolah dasar. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode quasi eksperimen. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian nonequivalent control group design. Sampel penelitian ini berjumlah 22 orang kelas eksperimen dan 22 orang di kelas kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tes, observasi dan dokumentasi. Tes digunakan dalam dua tahap pada penelitian ini yaitu pada pratest sebelum diberikan perlakuan dan pascates setelah diberi perlakuan menggunakan model pembelajaran PQ4R (Preview Question Read Reflect Recite dan Review). Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran PQ4R (Preview Question Read Reflect Recite dan Review) berbasis teks cerita rakyat melayu Riau berpengaruh dalam peningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa dibandingkan model konvensional. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan nilai signifikansi nGain yang lebih besar dibandingkan dengan nilai siswa yang menggunakan model konvensional. Yang artinya siswa memiliki kemampuan membaca pemahaman dengan model PQ4R (Preview Question Read Reflect Recite dan Review) berbasis teks cerita rakyat melayu Riau karena dengan model tersebut siswa diberikan langkah-langkah yang sistematis yang memudahkan siswa untuk dapat memahami isi bacaan yang telah dibaca serta dapat membuat siswa menjadi aktif didalam pembelajaran karena siswa dituntut untuk dapat berdiskusi dan bekerjasama didalam masing-masing kelompok. Kata kunci: Membaca Pemahaman, Model PQ4R (Preview Question Read Reflect Recite dan Review), Teks Cerita Rakyat Melayu Riau This research is motivated by the low reading comprehension ability of students in grade IV elementary school in one of the public schools in Pekanbaru city. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the PQ4R (Preview Question Read Reflect Recite and Review) model based on Riau Malay folklore texts in learning reading comprehension of fourth grade students in elementary schools. In this study, a quantitative approach was used using a quasi-experimental method. This study used a nonequivalent control group design. The sample of this study amounted to 22 people in the experimental class and 22 people in the control class. The instruments used in this study were tests, observations and documentation. The test was used in two stages in this study, namely the pretest before being given treatment and the posttest after being treated using the PQ4R learning model (Preview Question Read Reflect Recite and Review). The results of this study indicate that the PQ4R (Preview Question Read Reflect Recite and Review) learning model based on Riau Malay folklore texts has an effect on improving students' reading comprehension skills compared to conventional models. This is evidenced by the significance value of nGain which is greater than the value of students using the conventional model. Which means that students have the ability to read and understand with the PQ4R (Preview Question Read Reflect Recite and Review) model based on Riau Malay folklore text because with this model students are given systematic steps that make it easier for students to understand the contents of the readings that have been read and can make students become active in learning because students are required to be able to discuss and cooperate in each group.
