Abstract

ABSTRAK KESULITAN PESERTA DIDIK DALAM MEMBACA PERMULAAN DI SEKOLAH DASAR Oleh Indah Lestari Kesulitan peserta didik dalam membaca permulaan menjadi suatu kendala pada pembelajaran di sekolah dasar. Identifikasi kesulitan membaca serta penyebab peserta didik mengalami kesulitan perlu dilakukan sehingga guru dan orang tua dapat membuat solusi bersama untuk membantu peserta didik dalam mengatasi hal ini. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pelaksanaan pembelajaran membaca permulaan di sekolah dasar, tingkat ketuntasan peserta didik dalam membaca permulaan, kesulitan yang dialami oleh peserta didik dalam membaca permulaan, serta solusi guru untuk mengatasi kesulitan peserta didik dalam membaca permulaan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif, dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, tes, wawancara, dan catatan lapangan. Subjek dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 27 peserta didik, seorang guru, dan 9 orang tua peserta didik. Lokasi penelitian berada di sekolah dasar Kecamatan Sumedang Selatan. Adapun hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan pembelajaran membaca permulaan di sekolah dasar yang dilaksanakan secara online menyebabkan peserta didik menjadi kurang intens dalam belajar membaca sehingga berpengaruh pada kemampuan membacanya. Tingkat ketuntasan membaca permulaan pada beberapa peserta didik pun dinyatakan belum tuntas karena mengalami kesulitan membaca. Kesulitan-kesulitan membaca permulaan yang ditemukan diantaranya yaitu kesulitan dalam mengenal huruf, membaca diftong dan digraf, membaca suku kata, kata, atau kalimat, daya ingat peserta didik lemah, terdapat kesalahan membaca, kesulitan mengeja, membaca lambat, tidak percaya diri, serta membaca dengan lafal yang kurang jelas. Untuk mengatasi kesulitan tersebut guru menerapkan solusi yaitu mengadakan jam tambahan khusus belajar membaca serta berkomunikasi dengan orang tua untuk menemukan solusi bersama bagi peserta didik yang kesulitan membaca permulaan. Kata Kunci : Peserta didik, Membaca Permulaan, Kesulitan Membaca ABSTRACT DIFFICULTIES OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN INITIAL READING By Indah Lestari The difficulties about initial reading become obstacles in elementary school. Reading difficulties and the causes need to be identified so teachers and parents can create solutions to help students overcome this problem. The study was conducted to determine the implementation of initial reading learning in elementary school, the students' completeness levels in initial reading, the difficulties, and the teacher's solutions to overcome this issue. The research method used a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collection techniques through observation, tests, interviews, and the field notes. Subjects in this study were 27 students, a teacher, and 9 parents of students. The study is located in the elementary school at district of South Sumedang. The results showed that the initial reading learning’s implementation in elementary school, which was carried out online, had made students less intense in learning to read and affected their reading ability. The students' completeness levels about initial reading in some of them stated incomplete as they faced reading difficulty. The initial reading difficulties found in this research included the problem with recognizing letters, reading diphthongs and digraphs, reading syllables, words, or sentences, weak students memory, reading errors, spelling difficulties, slow reading, not confidence, and reading with less clear pronunciation. In order to overcome these difficulties, teachers implemented a solution, namely having particular additional learning hours to read and communicating with their parents to find solutions for the students who have initial reading difficulties.
