Abstract
Education is one of the field which truly needs quality assurance activities due to it’s essential function that is producing educated and civilized people. Therefore, total quality management as a quality assurance approach, needs to be applied in education organization such as school. Based on that reason, this research is done. The research aims to measure school performance using total quality management indicators as new perspective in assessing school, in addition to school accreditation which has been the only one tool that measuring school performance so far. Population of this research is the entire 47 High Schools in Gorontalo with 32 schools of sample. Data gathering is done with simple random sampling technic, using quistioner and analized with correlation analysis, simple regression and multiple regression. The result of this research shows that 1) high school performance based on seven aspects of total quality management in Gorontalo is in high score. Among those seven aspents, commitment has the highest score and performance measuring has the lowest score. 2) there is an influence of school total quality management performance toward student’s achievement. Those seven aspects of total quality management influence student’s achievement simultaneously, yet partially, don’t. This indicates that the seven aspects of total quality management will not work out in giving best performance of school, unless they work together as unseparated model of total quality management. Recommendation that come from this research is that principal and teachers need to build comprehention about quality assurance and total quality management. Proper comprehention may lead to motivation and courage to applicate this total quality management philosophy. Furthermore, correction about school performance is based on the existing achievement of those seven aspects of total quality management.
