Abstract

Salah satu kemampuan matematika yang penting dan harus dimiliki yaitu kemampuan penalaran matematis. Namun kenyataannya, kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa masih rendah. Terdapat beberapa faktor yang mempengaruhi kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa yaitu gaya belajar dan gender. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa SMP ditinjau berdasarkan gaya belajar dan gender. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus, dengan subjek sebanyak 40 siswa kelas VIII di salah satu SMP Negeri Kabupaten Bandung, Jawa Barat. Data diperoleh dari hasil angket gaya belajar, tes kemampuan penalaran matematis dan wawancara. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh, siswa laki-laki maupun siswa perempuan yang memiliki gaya belajar visual (S8) dan (S31) mampu memberikan penjelasan pola, yang membedakan adalah siswa laki-laki yang memiliki gaya belajar visual (S8) mampu menggunakan pola hubungan untuk membuat generalisasi, sedangkan siswa perempuan yang memiliki gaya belajar visual (S31) mampu menunjukkan proses solusi dengan baik. Selanjutnya, siswa laki-laki yang memiliki gaya belajar auditorial (S5) belum mampu memenuhi semua indikator penalaran sedangkan siswa perempuan yang memiliki gaya belajar auditorial (S26) mampu memperkirakan jawaban. Adapun Siswa laki-laki maupun siswa perempuan gaya belajar kinestetik (S6) dan (S34) mampu memperkirakan jawaban namun hanya siswa laki-laki yang memiliki gaya belajar kinestetik (S6) mampu memberikan penjelasan pola dan menggunakan pola hubungan untuk membuat generalisasi. One of the important and must-have mathematical abilities is the ability to reason mathematically. But in reality, students' mathematical reasoning ability is still low. There are several factors that affect students' mathematical reasoning abilities, namely learning styles and gender. This study aims to analyze the mathematical reasoning abilities of junior high school students in terms of learning styles and gender. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, with a subject of 40 students of class VIII in one of the SMP Negeri Bandung Regency, West Java. Data obtained from the results of learning style questionnaires, mathematical reasoning ability tests and interviews. Based on the research results obtained, male students and female students who have a visual learning style (S8) and (S31) are able to provide an explanation of the pattern, the difference is that male students who have a visual learning style (S8) is able to use relationship patterns to make generalization, while female students who have a visual learning style (S31) is able to show the solution process well. Furthermore, male students who have an auditory learning style (S5) has not been able to fulfill all reasoning indicators while female students who have an auditory learning style (S26) is able to predict answers. Meanwhile, male students and female students with kinesthetic learning styles (S6) and (S34) are able to predict answers, but only male students with kinesthetic learning styles (S6) is able to provide explanations of patterns and use relationship patterns to make generalizations.
