Abstract

Program linear merupakan salah satu materi dalam matematika yang berhubungan dengan soal kontekstual. Berdasarkan penelitian terdahulu dan studi pendahuluan yang telah dilakukan, masih banyak ditemukan siswa yang mengalami kesulitan dan berakhir pada melakukan kesalahan dalam menyelesaikan soal kontekstual program linear ini. Salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhinya adalah karena karakteristik siswa yang berbeda-beda. Salah satu karakteristik tersebut adalah gaya belajar. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui jenis kesalahan dan kesulitan apa saja yang mempengaruhi kesalahan tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Pengumpulan data menggunakan metode angket, metode tes dan wawancara. Subjek penelitian sebanyak 23 siswa kelas XI MIPA.2 (Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam) dan diambil 6 siswa untuk diwawancarai, masing-masing terdiri atas 2 siswa dari setiap jenis gaya belajar. Analisis data dilakukan dengan langkah-langkah tahap reduksi data, tahap penyajian data, dan tahap verifikasi (penarikan kesimpulan). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) siswa visual cenderung mengalami kesulitan prinsip sehingga melakukan kesalahan transformation, (2) siswa auditorial cenderung mengalami kesalahan prinsip dan informasi sehingga melakukan kesalahan transformation dan process skill, dan (3) siswa kinestetik mengalami kesulitan konsep, prinsip dan informasi sehingga tidak memiliki kecenderungan pada salah satu jenis kesalahan. Pada umumnya penyebab kesalahan baik memiliki gaya belajar visual, auditorial, maupun kinestetik adalah kurang memahami materi prasyarat yaitu sistem persamaan linear dua variabel dan sistem pertidaksamaan linear. Solusi yang dapat dilakukan adalah (1) siswa visual memperbanyak membaca materi tersebut, (2) siswa auditorial melakukan kegiatan tutor sebaya, dan (3) siswa kinestetik menggunakan alat peraga. Selain itu guru juga sebaiknya menggunakan pembelajaran yang memacu penglihatan, pendengaran, dan aktifitas fisik. Linear program is one of the mathematical topics that deals with contextual problems. Based on previous research and preliminary studies that have been carried out, there are still many students who have difficulty and end up making mistakes in solving this contextual problems in linear programming. One of the factors that influence it is due to the different characteristics of students. One of these characteristics is learning style. The purpose of this study was to determine the types of errors and the difficulties that affect these errors. This research was a qualitative research. The data collecting used a questionnaire method, test and interview methods. The research subjects were 23 students of class XI MIPA.2 (Mathematics and Natural Sciences) and 6 students were taken to be interviewed, each consisting of 2 students from each type of learning style. Data analysis was carried out with the steps of the data reduction stage, data presentation stage, and verification stage (conclusions). The results showed that (1) visual students tended to have difficulty with principles so that they make transformation errors, (2) auditory students tended to have difficulty with principles and information so that they make transformation and process skill errors, and (3) kinesthetic students have difficulty with concepts, principles and information so that they did not have a tendency to make any kind of error. In general, the cause of errors, whether they have a visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learning style, is a lack of understanding of the prerequisite material, namely a system of two-variable linear equations and a system of linear inequalities. The solutions that can be done are (1) visual students read more about the material, (2) auditory students do peer tutoring activities, and (3) kinesthetic students use visual aids. In addition, teachers should also use learning that stimulates vision, hearing, and physical activity.
