Abstract
This research is based on parents' perceptions of music education for early childhood because some of the assumptions found by many parents who do not understand music education for early childhood, which is the assumption of parents stating that music education for early childhood is only limited to entertainment only, this is certainly contrary to the concept of music education where music education has a goal for schools, for children's growth and development and increasing creativity in children. This study aims to determine the level of parental perception of music education for early childhood. This research was carried out by following the stages of the survey research method, where the process of collecting data in this study used an instrument in the form of a questionnaire. Subjects in this study were parents of early childhood students in Tawang District, Tasikmalaya City, West Java as many as 176 parents. Obtaining data analysis on the questionnaire data using SPSS IBM 16. The results of data acquisition are then interpreted based on the research objectives. So that it is known the level of parental perception of music education for early childhood. based on the research conducted, the level of parental perception of music education for early childhood can be based on the results of the formulation of the problem specifically as follows: parents' perceptions of the nature of music education for early childhood are included in the Agree category (77%), parents' perceptions of the benefits of music education are included in the agree category (51%), so that based on the overall problem formulation of parents' perceptions of music education for early childhood it can be categorized into strongly agree (39%) category agree (49%) neutral category (48%) disagree category (1%). Based on this, it can be concluded that some parents perceive that early childhood education is in the agreed category (49%).
