Abstract
PENERAPAN METODE MIND MAPPING BERBANTUAN MEDIA ULAR TANGGA DALAM MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN PEMAHAMAN KONSEP IPS SISWA DI SD Oleh Muhammad Farriz Nur’itsna Adinegoro 1807122 ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan pemahaman konsep ilmu pengetahuan sosial (IPS) siswa kelas IV di salah satu sekolah dasar di kabupaten Majalengka. Hal ini dikarenakan guru kurang termotivasi dalam menggunakan metode pembelajaran dan media pembelajaran masih sebagian besar mengunakan buku paket dan LKS sehingga tingkat pemahaman siswa beragam dan masih banyak yang kurang dalam memahami pembelajaran IPS serta siswa lebih cenderung pasif dalam pembelajaran. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, peneliti mengatasinya dengan menerapkan metode mind mapping berbantuan media ular tangga. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui aktivitas siswa, dan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep IPS siswa dengan penerapan metode mind mapping berbantuan media ular tangga dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep IPS siswa kelas IV di salah satu sekolah dasar di kabupaten Majalengka. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) model Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart yang dilakukan dalam dua siklus dengan beberapa tahapan dalam satu siklusnya yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV di salah satu sekolah dasar di kabupaten Majalengka yang berjumlah 34 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi dan tes pemahaman konsep. Pengolahan data yang digunakan adalah data kualitatif dengan tahapan koleksi data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan kesimpulan. Sedangkan data kuantitatif berupa skor hasil tes, nilai rata-rata kelas, pemahaman konsep ips per indikator, ketuntasan belajar siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa nilai rata-rata siswa dan nilai persentase pemahaman konsep IPS siswa mengalami peningkatan dari siklus I ke siklus II. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa sebagian besar yaitu sebanyak (91%) sudah mempunyai kemampuan pemahaman konsep sedangkan (9%) belum mencapai indikator kemampuan pemahaman konsep. Kata kunci: metode mind mapping, kemampuan pemahaman konsep, ilmu pengetahuan sosial (IPS) ----- THE IMPLEMENTATION OF MIND MAPPING LEARNING METHODS WITH SNAKES AND LADDERS MEDIA TO IMPROVE UNDERSTANDING SKILLS OF SOCIAL STUDIES CONCEPT IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Oleh Muhammad Farriz Nur’itsna Adinegoro 1807122 ABSTRACT This research was motivated by the low ability of understanding social science concepts (IPS) of fourth grade students in one of the elementary schools in Majalengka district. This is because teachers are less motivated in using learning methods and learning media still mostly use textbooks and worksheets so that the level of understanding of students varies and there are still many who lack understanding of social studies learning and students are more likely to be passive in learning. Based on these problems, the researchers overcome them by applying the mind mapping method with the help of snakes and ladders media. The purpose of this study was to determine the activities of students, and to improve students' understanding of social studies concepts by applying mind mapping methods assisted by snakes and ladders media in improving the ability of students to understand social science concepts in grade IV in one of the elementary schools in Majalengka district. The research method used is a classroom action research (CAR) model by Kemmis and Mc. Taggart is carried out in two cycles with several stages in one cycle, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were fourth grade students in one of the elementary schools in Majalengka district, amounting to 34 people. Data collection techniques used observation and concept understanding tests. The data processing used is qualitative data with the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. While quantitative data in the form of test scores, class average scores, understanding of social studies concepts per indicator, student learning completeness. The results showed that the average value of students and the percentage value of students' understanding of social studies concepts increased from cycle I to cycle II. Based on these results, it can be concluded that most of them (91%) already have the ability to understand concepts while (9%) have not reached the indicator of ability to understand concepts.
