Abstract

Kemampuan literasi sains siswa sekolah dasar di Indonesia pada survei yang dilakukan oleh PISA tahun 2018, dengan tujuan untuk: (1) menganalisis literasi sains siswa sekolah dasar sebelum menerapkan pendekatan STEM; (2) menganalisis literasi sains siswa sekolah dasar setelah menerapkan pendekatan STEM; dan (3) mengetahui dan menganalisis pengaruh pendekatan STEM terhadap peningkatan literasi sains siswa sekolah dasar. Penelitian dilakukan secara kuantitatif dengan metode eksperimen jenis pre – eksperimental desain one group pretest posttest design. Temuan yang dihasilkan yakni (1) literasi sains siswa sekolah dasar pada sebelum menerapkan pendekatan STEM memiliki nilai rata – rata sebesar 46,80; (2) literasi sains siswa sekolah dasar pada setelah menerapkan pendekatan STEM memiliki nilai rata – rata sebesar 77,10; dan (3) terdapat pengaruh antara penerapan pendekatan STEM terhadap peningkatan literasi sains siswa sekolah dasar dengan N – Gain sebesar 0,59, nilai r square 0,529 atau 52,9%. Dari penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa penerapan pendekatan STEM berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan literasi sains siswa sekolah dasar pada tema lingkungan sahabat kita. ----- The scientific literacy ability of elementary school students in Indonesia in a survey conducted by PISA in 2018, with the aim of: (1) analyzing the scientific literacy of elementary school students before applying the STEM approach; (2) analyzing the scientific literacy of elementary school students after applying the STEM approach; and (3) knowing and analyzing the effect of the STEM approach on the improvement of elementary school students' scientific literacy. The research was conducted quantitatively with the experimental method of preexperimental type one group pretest posttest design. The findings are (1) the scientific literacy of elementary school students before applying the STEM approach had an average score of 46.80; (2) the scientific literacy of elementary school students after applying the STEM approach has an average value of 77.10; and (3) there is an effect between the application of the STEM approach to the improvement of elementary school students' scientific literacy with an N-Gain of 0.59, an r-square value of 0.529 or 52.9%. From this study it was found that the application of the STEM approach had an effect on increasing the scientific literacy of elementary school students on the theme of our friend's environment.
