Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya pemahaman masalah matematis siswa pada materi geometri. Namun kenyataannya, kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa pada materi geometri masih rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan learning obstacles yang teridentifikasi terkait pemecahan masalah matematis siswa materi segitiga dan segiempat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan model fenomenologi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan secara triangulasi dengan menggunakan observasi, tes tertulis kepada 23 siswa, dan wawancara kepada 6 siswa terpilih. Penelitian berlangsung di salah satu SMP Negeri di Kabupaten Bandung Barat. Temuan penelitian ini adalah (1) Ontogenic Obstacles terdiri dari 3 jenis, yaitu: ontogenic obstacles psikologis terlihat dari rendahnya motivasi dan ketertarikan siswa dalam belajar matematika materi segitiga dan segiempat. Ontogenic obstacles instrumental terlihat dari hambatan siswa yang belum paham mengenai konsep tinggi dan alas pada segitiga. Ontogenic obstacles konseptual terlihat dari rendahnya pemahaman siswa pada materi prasyarat; (2) Didactical Obstacles teridentifikasi karena pembelajaran mengalir begitu saja tanpa menekankan pada strategi pemecahan masalah tertentu; (3) Epistemological Obstacles teridentifikasi karena siswa tidak bisa memahami dan menerapkan strategi tertentu yang akan digunakan dalam pemecahan masalah. Selain itu, peneliti juga membuat desain didaktis rekomendasi tentang luas daerah segitiga dengan menggunakan pendekatan luas daerah persegi dan luas daerah persegi panjang. This research is motivated by the importance of understanding students' mathematical problems in geometry. However, in reality, students' mathematical problem-solving abilities in geometry are still low. This study aims to describe the identified learning obstacles related to students' mathematical problem-solving in triangles and quadrilaterals. This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological model. Data was collected by triangulation using observation, written tests for 23 students, and interviews with 6 selected students. The research took place in the public junior high schools in West Bandung Regency. The findings of this study are (1) Ontogenic Obstacles consist of 3 types, namely: psychological ontogenic obstacles seen from low motivation and interest of students in learning triangles and quadrilaterals. Ontogenic instrumental obstacles are seen in the obstacles of students who don’t understand the concept of height and base in a triangle. Ontogenic conceptual obstacles were seen from the students' low understanding of the prerequisite material; (2) Didactical Obstacles were identified because learning just flowed without emphasizing specific problem-solving strategies; (3) Epistemological Obstacles were identified because students couldn’t understand and apply certain strategies that would be used in problem-solving. In addition, the researcher also made a didactic design recommendation about the area of a triangle by using an approach to the area of a square and an area of a rectangle.
