Abstract

Menulis ringkasan adalah salah satu keterampilan menulis reproduktif yaitu membuat tulisan baru secara lebih ringkas dari tulisan yang ada. Sejumlah peserta didik masih kesulitan dalam menulis ringkasan. Penggunaan metode ATM (Amati, Tiru, dan Modifikasi) berbantuan teknik mind mapping dapat menjadi alternatif guna meningkatkan keterampilan menulis ringkasan. Penelitian ini untuk mengungkap pembelajaran menulis ringkasan dengan metode ATM berbantuan teknik mind mapping pada peserta didik di sekolah dasar. Pre-experimental design dengan jenis one group pretest-posttest design digunakan pada penelitian ini. Populasi penelitian ialah seluruh peserta didik kelas V SD se-Kecamatan Kadipaten, Kabupaten Majalengka dengan sampel penelitiannya yaitu peserta didik kelas V SDN Kadipaten VII. Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yakni tes keterampilan menulis ringkasan dan pedoman observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) pelaksanaan pembelajaran menulis ringkasan dengan metode ATM berbantuan teknik mind mapping pada peserta didik di sekolah dasar berjalan baik sekali; (2) keterampilan menulis ringkasan sebelum menggunakan metode ATM berbantuan teknik mind mapping pada peserta didik di sekolah dasar masih rendah; (3) keterampilan menulis ringkasan setelah menggunakan metode ATM berbantuan teknik mind mapping pada peserta didik di sekolah dasar berada pada kategori tinggi; dan (4) terdapat peningkatan yang signifikan terhadap keterampilan menulis ringkasan dengan menggunakan metode ATM berbantuan teknik mind mapping pada peserta didik di sekolah dasar. Summary-writing is one of the reproductive writing skills that is make concise new text from an existing text. A number of students still have difficulty in writing summaries. The use of the ATM method (Observation, Imitation, and Modification) with mind mapping technique become an alternative to improve students’ summary-writing skills. This research reveal the learning process of writing summary using ATM method with mind mapping technique in elementary school students. Pre-experimental design with the type of one group pretest-posttest design was used in this study. The population of this research is all fifth grade elementary school students in Kadipaten Subdistrict, Majalengka Regency with the research sample being fifth grade students at SDN Kadipaten VII. The instruments used in this research were a summary-writing skill test and observation guideline. The results showed that: (1) the implementation of summary-writing learning using the ATM method with mind mapping technique in elementary school students is going very well; (2) summary-writing skill before using the ATM method with mind mapping technique for students in elementary schools is still low; (3) summary-writing skill after using the ATM method with mind mapping technique in elementary school students are in the high category; and 4) there is a significant improvement in the summary-writing skills using the ATM method with mind mapping technique in elementary school students.
