Abstract
Residents of Cikujang Village in Sukabumi Regency are a group of people who are constantly adapting and changing in many ways. One of them is the matter of self-name which varies from one era to the next, this is a sign of their flexibility. At first, the community regarding names was based on names containing Arabic elements which may have been inspired by the fanaticism of the beliefs they profess. However, the name of the society has changed significantly in recent years. This study aims to describe the lingual form of self-name in the people of Cikujang Village, Gunungguruh District, Sukabumi Regency. The method used is a qualitative description. The object of this research is a list of self names containing elements of the Arabic language of the community in Cikujang Village, Gunungguruh District, Sukabumi Regency. The source is written data from the community in the Desdukcapil, Sukabumi district. The results are processed in the form of a data table according to the formulation, in this study such as self-name, self-name meaning, self-name perception, and cultural values of self-name in the local community. Furthermore, the research was conducted qualitatively and the results of this study found that the naming of this village contains elements of Arabic in the people of Cikujang Village, Gunungguruh District, Sukabumi Regency, on average using one to four words or more. The giving of one-word and two-word self-names is dominated by parents born in 1960-1970 and three or more words are dominated by parents born in 1971-2020. From a total sample of 376 names, consisting of 173 personal names that use three words (52.5%). When compared to one word, two words, and four or more words, the use of these three terms dominates. A total of 141 self-names followed a two-word lingual form (32.5%). In addition, those who used four or more words collected 32 names (9.0%). Among individuals who used one-word self-names, 30 names were found (6.0%). The meanings contained in the self-name of the Ckujang Village community are futurative, situational, and memorable meanings. The values contained in the self-name are the values of peace, commitment, politeness, honesty, gratitude, and gender management. The perception of the people of Cikujang Village towards self-name is very good because the prayers in that name are expected to come down with blessings from Allah, for example through the Prophets and Apostles or Asmaul-Husna who are used as names.
