Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh academic achievement siswa Indonesia yang rendah dan dibuktikan dengan hasil skor Programme International of Student Assessment (PISA) tahun 2018 pada kemampuan yang diujikan, yaitu kemampuan membaca, matematika, dan sains yang menunjukkan bahwa skor siswa Indonesia masih berada dibawah rata-rata skor Organisation for Economic and Co-operation Development (OECD). Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh latar belakang sosio-ekonomi terhadap academic achievement siswa di Indonesia berbasis data Programme International of Student Assessment (PISA) dalam memberikan penguatan terhadap social learning theory Bandura dan diperkuat oleh teori expentancy-value yang menyatakan bahwa antara individu, lingkungan, dan perilaku merupakan satu-kesatuan dari proses belajar. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah sebanyak 12.098 observasisiswa Indonesia berusia 15 tahun yang berpartisipasi pada Programme International of Student Assessment (PISA) tahun 2018. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian eksplanatori dengan Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) analisis regresi berganda menggunakan variabel dummy lebih dari satu kategori. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa latar belakang sosio-ekonomi yang terdiri dari tingkat pendidikan ibu dan tingkat pendidikan ayah, kondisi lingkungan tempat tinggal siswa, dan jumlah buku yang dimiliki siswa berpengaruh positif terhadap academic achievement siswa pada kemampuan membaca, matematika, dan sains baik secara parsial maupun berpengaruh secara simultan. Kata Kunci: Latar Belakang Sosio-Ekonomi, Academic Achievement, Data PISA ABSTRACT This research is based on academic achievement of Indonesian students as evidenced by the results of the 2018 Program International of Student Assessment (PISA) scores on the abilities tested, namely the ability to read, math, and science, indicating that Indonesian students' scores are still below Average Organization for Economic and Co-operation Development (OECD) score. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of socio-economic background on student academic achievement in Indonesia based on the Program International of Student Assessment (PISA) data in providing reinforcement to Bandura's social learning theory and reinforced by the expentancy-value theory which states that between individuals, environment, and behavior is an integral part of the learning process. The sample in this study was 12,098 Indonesian student observations aged 15 years old who participated in the 2018 International Program of Student Assessment (PISA). The research method used was an explanatory research with Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) multiple regression analysis using dummy variables of more than one category. The results showed that the socio-economic background consisting of the mother’s education level and father’s education level, the environmental conditions in which students lived, and the number of books owned by students had a positive effect on students' academic achievement on reading, mathematics, and science, either partially or simultaneously. .
