Abstract

Penelitian ini didasari pada mutu pendidikan di Indonesia yang masih rendah khususnya pada mata pelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial yang perlu mengoptimalkan penggunaan teknologi dalam kegiatan pembelajarannya di sekolah sehingga pembelajaran konvensional sudah seharusnya ditinggalkan. Pembelajaran IPS dikenal sebagai mata pelajaran yang banyak teori-teori yang sifatnya hafalan dan membuat siswa sangat kurang memperhatikan ketika guru memberikan materi di depan kelas. Hal tersebut menjadi permasalahan untuk siswa SMPN 1 KOTA CIREBON khususnya kelas VIII dalam meningkatkan berpikir kritisnya, dari hasil wawancara dengan guru mata pelajaran IPS kelas VIII mendapatkan informasi bahwasannya kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa masih cukup rendah, sehingga diperlukan media yang dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran dikelas yaitu media street photography. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu agar dapat mengetahui efektivitas media street photography dalam project based learning terhadap peningkatan berpikir kritis siswa. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu pendekatan kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen.Teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik Cronbach’s Alpha dengan menggunakan SPSS 23.0. Setelah dilakukan penelitian, peneliti menemukan bahwa dengan penggunaan media street photography ini efektif untuk meningkatkan berpikir kritis siswa pada mata pelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial dengan nilai rata-rata pretest yaitu 23,72 dan posttest yaitu 29,78 sehinggan nilai gain yang di dapat sebesar 6,06. This research is based on the quality of education in Indonesia which is still low, especially in Social Science subjects which need to optimize the use of technology in learning activities in schools so that conventional learning should be abandoned. Social studies learning is known as a subject that contains many theories that are rote in nature and makes students pay very little attention when the teacher gives material in front of the class. This is a problem for students of SMPN 1 KOTA CIREBON, especially class VIII in improving their critical thinking, from the results of interviews with social science subject teachers for class VIII, they get information that students' critical thinking skills are still quite low, so we need media that can be used in classroom learning, namely media street photography. The purpose of this study is to find out the effectiveness of street photography media in project based learning on increasing students' critical thinking. The approach used in this study is a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method. The data analysis technique was carried out using the Cronbach's Alpha technique using SPSS 23.0.
