Abstract

Masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah rendahnya motivasi belajar IPS siswa kelas VIII SMPN 2 Lembang. Permasalahan tersebut berdasarkan hasil pengamatan bahwa selama ini guru belum menerapkan model pembelajaran yang bervariasi dan cenderung menggunakan metode pembelajaran konvensional. Kegiatan pembelajaran belum melibatkan siswa secara aktif dan banyak siswa merasa bosan ketika belajar IPS. Guru perlu mengatasi permasalahan tersebut dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran yang kreatif, menyenangkan dan dapat menumbuhkan motivasi belajar siswa, salah satunya adalah model pembelajaran inkuiri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keberhasilan penerapan metode pembelajaran inkuiri terhadap motivasi belajar IPS pada siswa kelas VII SMPN 2 Lembang. Rancangan penelitian ini menggunakan the nonequivalent pretest-posttest control desain dengan metode Kuasi eksperimen. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 64 siswa dan menggunakan 2 kelas yaitu kelas VII F sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VII G sebagai kelas kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yakni angket mengenai motivasi belajar dengan jumlah 30 butir soal yang diberikan secara online melalui google form. Setelah data terkumpul kemudian diolah menggunakan uji hipotesis atau uji t menggunakan aplikasi SPSS 25. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kelas yang menerapkan metode inkuiri dalam pembelajaran IPS berpengaruh terhadap motivasi belajar siswa dengan nilai sig 0,001 < 0,05 dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol yang menerapkan metode diskusi dengan sig 0,438 > 0,05 dan apabila dibandingkan hasil motivasi dari keduanya yaitu tidak terdapat perbedaan antara kelas eksperimen dan kontrol dengan nilai sig 0,684 > 0,05. These problems are based on observations that so far teachers have not applied varied learning methods and tend to use conventional learning methods. Learning activities have not involved students actively and many students feel bored when studying social studies. Teachers need to overcome these problems by applying learning methods that are creative, fun and can foster student learning motivation, one of which is the inquiry learning method. This study aims to determine the success of the application of the inquiry learning method to the social studies learning motivation in the seventh grade students of SMPN 2 Lembang. This research design uses the nonequivalent pretest-posttest control design with a quasi-experimental method. The research sample was 64 students and used two classes, namely class VII F as the experimental class and class VII G as the control class. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire on learning motivation with a total of 30 questions given online via google form. After the data is collected then it is processed using a hypothesis test or t test using the SPSS 25 application. The results show that the class that applies the inquiry method in social studies learning has an effect on students' learning motivation with a sig value of 0.001 < 0.05 compared to the control class that applies the discussion method with sig 0.438 > 0.05 and when compared to the results of the motivation of the two, there is no difference between the experimental and control classes with a sig value of 0.684 > 0.05.
