Abstract
ABSTRAK Fenomena lesbian di Kota Bandung mengakibatkan beragam pandangan dan stigma mulai dari penolakan hingga diskriminasi. Hal tersebut menghambat proses pemaknaan diri kaum lesbian sehingga tidak mampu menerima resiko dari lingkungan dan cenderung tertutup dan menarik diri. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis bagaimana proses pemaknaan diri lesbian dan mengetahui hambatan serta pendorong keterbukaan identitas lesbian di Kota Bandung. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menjawab bagaimana tahap individu lesbian dalam melakukan pemaknaan dirinya dilingkungan masyarakat melalui kajian interaksi simbolik. Serta mengetahui bagaimana presepsi mahasiswa terhadap fenomena keterbukaan diri lesbian. Metode penelitian yang diterapkan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara dan studi literatur terhadap subjek penelitian, diantaranya individu lesbian, aktivis kesetaraan gender dan mahasiswa di Kota Bandung. Hasil temuan penelitian adalah (1) Proses pemaknaan diri kaum lesbian dilalui melalui enam tahap yang sesuai dengan teori ‘cass’, (2) Faktor yang memengaruhi adalah psikosiosial dan biologis, (3) Presepsi mahasiswa terbagi menjadi pro, kontra dan netral, (4) Bentuk interaksi simbolik sesuai dengan konsep ‘mind, self, society’ Mead dapat dilihat dari proses interaksi intrapersonal dan interpersonal dengan lingkungan keluarga, teman dan masyarakat. Kata Kunci: Interaksionisme Simbolik, Lesbian, Pemaknaan diri ABSTRACT The lesbian phenomenon in Bandung has resulted in various views and stigmas ranging from rejection to discrimination. This hinders the process of self-understanding of lesbians so that they are unable to accept risks from the environment and tend to be closed and withdrawn. This study was conducted to analyze how the process of self-interpretation of lesbians and to find out the barriers and drivers of openness to lesbian identity in the city of Bandung. The purpose of this study is to answer how the stage of lesbian individuals in carrying out their meaning in the community through the study of simbolic interactions. As well as knowing how students' perceptions of the phenomenon of lesbian self-disclosure. The research method applied is a qualitative approach with descriptive methods with data collection techniques using observations, interviews and literature studies on research subjects, including lesbian individuals, gender equality activists and students in the city of Bandung. The results of the research findings are (1) the process of self-interpretation of lesbians is passed through six stages in accordance with the theory of 'cass', (2) The influencing faktors are psychosocial and biological, (3) Students' perceptions are divided into pros, cons and neutrals, (4) The form of simbolic interaction according to Mead's concept of 'mind, self, society' can be seen from the process of intrapersonal and interpersonal interaction with family, friends and society.
