Abstract

Penelitian tentang sikap bahasa telah mendapat banyak perhatian karena penelitian tentang sikap bahasa membantu seseorang untuk mengetahui perilaku dan sikap pengguna bahasa dalam suatu masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap dan mengidentifikasi sikap bahasa siswa di sekolah bilingual dan kemungkinan penyebab yang mempengaruhi sikap bahasa. Sebanyak tiga puluh dua (32) siswa kelas sepuluh di sekolah bilingual berpartisipasi dalam penelitian ini. Teori Crystal (1997) tentang sikap bahasa dan teori Spooncer (1992) tentang tiga komponen sikap bahasa; kognitif, afektif, perilaku digunakan sebagai pedoman analisis dalam penelitian ini. Selain itu, teori Jendra (2012) tentang faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi sikap bahasa juga digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa berdasarkan ketiga komponen sikap bahasa, siswa relatif menunjukkan hasil yang positif pada semua komponen sikap bahasa. Mengenai penyebab sikap berbahasa, kebanggaan berbahasa, faktor sosial, dan sistem internal bahasa merupakan tiga faktor utama yang ditunjukkan oleh siswa. Selain itu, disarankan untuk menggunakan komponen dan pengukuran sikap yang berbeda untuk penelitian selanjutnya. Research on language attitudes has received a lot of attention because research on language attitude helps person to know the behavior and attitude of language users in a society. This study aims to uncover and identify students' language attitudes in bilingual school and possible causes that influence language attitudes. A total of thirty-two (32) of tenth grade students in a bilingual school participated in this study. Crystal’s (1997) theory about language attitude and Spooncer’s (1992) theory about three components of language attitude; cognitive, affective, behavioral were used as the guideline for the analysis in this study. In addition, Jendra’s (2012) theory about the factors that influence language attitudes was also used in this study. The results reveal that based on the three components of language attitudes; students relatively show positive results in all components of language attitude. Regarding the causes of language attitude, language pride, social factor, and the internal-language system are the three main factors that shown by students. In addition, It is suggested to use different components and measurements of attitudes for the future research.
