Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh banyaknya perguruan tinggi di Indonesia yang telah memanfaatkan institutional repository sebagai wadah dan sarana untuk melakukan preservasi khususnya untuk koleksi digital. Menurut data dari situs pemeringkatan Ranking Web of World Repositories Pada Tahun 2019 tercatat sebanyak 88 situs digital repositori milik perpustakaan perguruan tinggi yang ada di Indonesia telah terindeks oleh situs tersebut. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan teori strategi preservasi digital karya Putu Laxman Pendit (2008) yang mana didalamnya terdapat 6 strategi preservasi digital yaitu, 1). Preservasi Teknologi, 2). Penyegaran, 3). Migrasi dan Format ulang, 4). Emulasi, 5). Arkeologi digital, 6). Digital ke Analog, yang dapat diterapkan pada saat melakukan preservasi digital. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif dengan teknik pengambilan data wawancara, observasi dan studi dokumentasi. Penentuan informan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik purposive sampling yang mana informan dan key informan merupakan seorang pustakawan pada bidang pengolahan koleksi digital di Perpustakaan UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung serta terdapat informan tambahan yang merupakan pemustaka yang aktif menggunakan koleksi digital institutional repository Perpustakaan UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung selama setahun terakhir. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa, Perpustakaan UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung telah menerapkan strategi preservasi digital tersebut pada kegiatan preservasi digital seperti penyegaran media penyimpanan, pengalihbentukan media, migrasi dan format ulang koleksi. Namun pada pelaksanaan dan hasilnya belum begitu maksimal karena beberapa faktor khususnya kurangnya jumlah dan tenaga pustakawan yang memadai. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan saran dan rekomendasi untuk Perpustakaan UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung agar saat melaksanakan preservasi digital dapat berjalan secara optimal. This research was motivated by the number of universities in Indonesia which had was utilized the institutional repository as a place and means for preservation, especially for digital collections. According to the Web of World Repositories ranking site, since 2019 there were 88 digital repository sites belonging to university libraries in Indonesia which had been indexed by Web of World Repositories ranking. This research was used Putu Laxman Pendit’s theory of digital preservation strategies (2008) which includes 6 digital preservation strategies, namely, 1). Technology Preservation, 2). Refreshment, 3). Migration and Reformat, 4). Emulation, 5). Digital archeology, 6). Digital to Analog, which can be applied when doing digital preservation. This research was used qualitative research of descriptive analysis design and for the data collection technique were interviewed, observation and documentation studies. In this research, the participant was selected by using sampling technique. The informant were librarians by using a purposive sampling technique which the infromant was as a librarian in the field of digital collection processing at the UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung Library. There was an additional participant who was an active user using the digital collection of the institutional repository at the UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung Library for the past year. As a result, this research shows that The UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung library has implemented the digital preservation strategy on digital preservation activities such as refreshing storage media, transferring media formations, migrating and reformatting collections. However, the implementation and the results have not been optimal due to several factors, especially the lack of capable numbers and staff of librarians. The results of this research are expected to provide suggestions and recommendations for the UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Library in Bandung so that when carrying out digital preservation it can run optimally.
