Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh perbandingan cerita novel yang sudah mendapatkan penghargaan Samsoedi sebab memiliki tema dan karakter tokoh yang mirip. Memaparkan perbandingan struktur faktual cerita novel Nala karya Darpan dan cerita novel Béntang Hariring karya Dian Héndrayana. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengupas struktur faktual cerita novel dan bagaimana perbandingan serta penerapannya untuk bahan ajar membaca novel di SMP kelas IX. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dan teknik studi pustaka. Dalam mengupas objek penelitian, digunakan pendekatan struktural Robert Stanton dan menggunakan metode sastra bandingan Sapardi Djoko Damono. Struktur faktual yang diteliti yaitu alur, tokoh, dan latar. Kedua novel memiliki struktur faktual yang mirip, terutama pada karakter tokoh utama. Pada perbandingan cerita novel Nala dan cerita novel Béntang Hariring ditemukan beberapa hal yang sama di antaranya alur yang sederhana menggunakan alur maju, tokoh utama yang sama yaitu anak SD yang hidup bersama ibunya serta yatim. Latar tempat juga didominasi di sekolah dan di rumah. Dilihat dari novel mana yang pertama terbit yaitu novel Béntang Hariring. Meskipun demikian kedua novel memiliki ciri khasnya masing-masing. Serta bisa dijadikan bahan ajar membaca novel di SMP kelas IX. Kata Kunci: bahan ajar, perbandingan, struktur faktual. ABSTRACT This research is motivated by the comparison of novels that have received the Samsoedi award because they have similar themes and characters. Describes the comparison of the factual structure of the novel Nala by Darpan and the novel Béntang Hariring by Dian Héndrayana. The purpose of this study is to examine the factual structure of the novel and how it compares and applies it to teaching materials for reading novels in class IX Junior High School. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative and literature study technique. In exploring the object of research, is used the structural approach of Robert Stanton and the comparative literary method of Sapardi Djoko Damono. The factual structures studied are plot, characters, and setting. The two novels have a similar factual structure, especially in the main characters. In the comparison of the story of Nala's novel and the story of Béntang Hariring's novel, several things are found in common, including a simple plot using an advanced plot, the same main character, namely an elementary school child who lives with his mother and an orphan. The setting of the place is also dominated at school and at home. Judging from which novel was published first, is the novel Béntang Hariring. However, both novels have their own characteristics. And can be used as teaching material for reading novels in class IX Junior High Schoool. Keywords: comparison, factual structure, teaching material.
