Abstract

Latar belakang dari penelitian ini adalah pentingnya kemampuan berbicara dengan menggunakan bahasa Sunda, dan penggunaan media pembelajaran dalam kegiatan belajar-mengajar. Tujuannya yaitu untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa melalaui pelajaran bercerita menggunakan media gambar seri. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah eksperimen murni, dengan menggunakan teknik tes. Dari hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa (1) rata-rata kemampuan bercerita siswa di kelas yang tidak menggunakan media gambar seri adalah 69,94 dengan persentase 15,63% atau 5 orang sudah mampuh untuk bercerita, sisanya 84,37% atau 27 orang belum mampuh bercerita, (2) rata-rata kemampuan bercerita siswa di kelas yang menggunakan media gambar seri adalah 76,2 dengan persentase 70,59% atau 24 orang sudah mampuh bercerita, sisanya 29,41% atau 10 orang belum mampuh bercerita, (3) berdasarkan uji hipotesis, t itung (11,38) > t tabél (2,39), hal tersebut berarti bahwa hipotesisi diterima. Oleh karena itu, dapat dinyatakan bahwa media gambar seri efektif untuk untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara dibandingkan dengan tidak menggunakan media gambar seri di kelas X SMA Pasundan 2 Bandung tahun pelajaran 2013/2014. Kata kunci: media gambar seri, bercerita This study is motivated not only because of the importance of speaking ability to use Sundanese language but also the importance of using instructional media in teaching learning activity. The aim of this study is to increase speaking ability of the students through story telling by using pictures series. This study employs pure experimental method by using test technique. The results of the study show that (1) the average of speaking ability of the students in the class that does not use pictures series as the media is 69,94 with the percentage 15.63% or there are 5 students who have been able to tell the story, and the remaining 84.3% or there are 27 students who have not been able to tell the story, (2) the average of speaking ability of the students in the class which uses pictures series as the media is 76.2 with the percentage 70.59% or there are 24 students who have been able to tell the story, the remaining 29.41% or there are 10 students who have not been able to tell the story, (3) based on the hypothesis test, tarithmetic (11.38) > ttable (2,39), it means that this hypothesis is acceptable. Therefore, it can be said that pictures series are effective to improve speaking ability rather than does not use pictures series as the media in class X SMA Pasundan 2 Bandung school year 2013/2014.
