Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa kelas V di SDN Jatireja 04 Cikarang Timur Kecamatan Cikarang Timur Kabupaten Bekasi. Hal ini disebabkan karena pembelajaran cenderung hanya terjadi interaksi satu arah. Guru menjelaskan materi dengan metode ceramah dan menulis rumus matematikanya di papan tulis, guru mengajar hanya menjelaskan materi secara singkat, memberi beberapa contoh soal dan siswa diminta untuk mengerjakan soal tanpa membuka kesempatan kepada siswa untuk bertanya tentang hal-hal yang belum dipahami. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa setelah siswa belajar dengan menerapkan model PBL. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) menurut Kemmis & Mc Taggart. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara observasi aktivitas siswa dan tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. Subyek penelitian ini kelas V yang terdiri dari 28 siswa yaitu 17 siswa laki-laki dan 11 siswa perempuan. Berdasarkan hasil observasi dan tes yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus, diperoleh data hasil yang mengalami peningkatan dari siklus pertama ke siklus kedua. Hal ini dilihat dari persentase hasil observasi aktivitas siswa pada siklus I berada pada kriteria kurang dan mengalami peningkatan pada siklus II dengan kriteria baik. Adapun persentase hasil tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa pada siklus I berada pada kriteria kurang, dan mengalami peningkatan pada siklus II dengan kriteria sangat baik. Disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model PBL dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa dan aktivitas belajar siswa di sekolah dasar. Kata Kunci: PBL, Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematis ----- This research is motivated by the problem of the low mathematical problem solving abilities of fifth grade students at Jatireja 04 Cikarang Timur Elementary School, East Cikarang District, Bekasi Regency. This is because learning tends to only occur one-way interaction. The teacher explains the material with the lecture method and writes the mathematical formula on the board, the teacher teaches only briefly explaining the material, gives some examples of questions and students are asked to work on the problem without opening the opportunity for students to ask questions about things that have not been understood. The purpose of this study was to determine the improvement of students' mathematical problem solving abilities after students learn by applying the PBL model. The research method used is the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method according to Kemmis & Mc Taggart. Data collection is done by observing student activities and testing mathematical problem solving abilities. The subjects of this study was fifth grade consisting of 28 students, 17 male students and 11 female students. Based on the results of observations and tests carried out in two cycles, the results of the data obtained increased from the first cycle to the second. This is seen from the percentage of observation results of student activities in the first cycle are in the less criteria and have increased in the second cycle with good criteria. The percentage of the results of the mathematical problem solving ability of students in the first cycle was in the less criteria, and experienced an increase in the second cycle with very good criteria. It was concluded that the application of the PBL model can improve students' mathematical problem solving abilities and student learning activities in elementary schools.
