Abstract

ABSTRAK Kinerja BUMN mengalami penurunan pada tahun 2014 hingga tahun 2016, namun telah menunjukkan perkembangan yang positif pada tahun 2017 dan 2018. Peningkatan kinerja perusahaan tersebut tentunya melibatkan banyak faktor, salah satunya adalah kemampuan perusahaan mengambil kesempatan, seperti investment opportunity set yang selanjutnya disingkat sebagai IOS. IOS merupakan opsi untuk berinvestasi dalam proyek yang memiliki net present value yang positif. Faktor lain yang juga dapat memengaruhi kinerja perusahaan adalah adanya koneksi politik. Koneksi politik merupakan hubungan kedekatan politik manajemen dengan pemerintah. Manfaat dari kedekatan perusahaan dengan pemerintah adalah lebih mudah mendapat proyek dari pemerintah, membayar beban pajak lebih sedikit dan lainnya. Tapi tidak sedikit pula penelitian yang menyatakan bahwa adanya koneksi politik antara perusahaan dan pemerintah dapat berpengaruh negatif secara signifikan terhadap kinerja perusahaan. Hal inilah yang melatarbelakangi penulis untuk meneliti hubungan antara IOS terhadap kinerja perusahaan dengan koneksi politik sebagai variabel pemoderasi pada perusahaan badan usaha milik negara (BUMN). Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah 150 BUMN, penelitian ini juga menggunakan metode purposive sampling sehingga sample yang mendukung penelitian menjadi 20 BUMN. Berdasarkan hasil pengolahan data, pengaruh investment opportunity set terhadap kinerja perusahaan mendapatkan probabilitas sebesar 0,1333. Selanjutnya pengaruh koneksi politik terhadap kinerja perusahaan mendapatkan probabilitas sebesar 0,0088, dan yang terakhir pengaruh investment opportunity set terhadap kinerja perusahaan dengan koneksi politik sebagai variabel pemoderasi mendapatkan probabilitas sebesar 0,0045. Berdasarkan hasil pengolahan data, diketahui bahwa investment opportunity set tidak berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kinerja perusahaan, selanjutnya koneksi politik memiliki pengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kinerja perusahaan, dan koneksi politik juga dapat memperkuat hubungan antara investment opportunity set terhadap kinerja perusahaan. ABSTRACT State-owned corporation’s performance has been down since 2014 until 2016, but it was already increased to positive since 2017 and 2018. The increased of corporation’s performance involved so many factors, and one of them was the capability to take a chance, like investment opportunity set which is abbreviated to IOS. IOS is an option to invest in any project that have positive net present value. There was also another factor that can affect the corporation’s performance, that was political connection. Political connection is a close management politic relation with government. The benefit of political connection was the corporation can get project easily from the government, pay the tax less than normal, etc. But there were researches which stated that political connection also have a negative affect to corporation’s performance. That was the factor that make author to write a research about the connection between IOS to corporation’s performance with political connection as a moderating variable in state-owned corporation. The method that used in this research was quantitative, the population of this research was 150 state-owned corporation, this research also used purposive sampling method so the sample that qualified to 20 state-owned corporation. Based on data processing, an affect of investment opportunity set to corporation’s performance have 0,1333 probability. Then the affect of political connection to corporation’s performance have 0,0088 probability, and the affect of investment opportunity set to corporation’s performance with political connection as a moderating variable have 0,0045 probability. Based on those results, we can conclude that investment opportunity set was not significantly affect to corporation’s performance, and then political connection have a significantly affect to corporation’s performance, and the last that political connection can amplified connection between investment opportunity set to corporation’s performance.
