Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya pengetahuan masyarakat terhadap peran indung beurang atau dukun beranak, macam-macam properti yang digunakan oleh indung beurang beserta fungsi ataupun kegunaan dari properti yang digunakan indung beurang dalam prosési melahirkan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan 1) peran indung beurang yang dimulai dengan merawat orang yang sedang mengandung, pada saat melahirkan, sampai anak berusia 40 hari, 2) peran dan tugas indung beurang sebelum dan setelah ada bidan désa di Kecamatan Jatigede, 3) properti (alat) yang digunakan oleh indung beurang dalam prosési melahirkan beserta simbol, fungsi, dan kegunaan setiap properti dalam prosesi melahirkan (yakni sejak merawat orang mengandung, saat melahirkan, sampai anak berusia 40 hari) di Kecamatan Jatigede. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan menggunakan teknik mengumpulkan data dengan teknik wawancara, dokumentasi, dan studi pustaka. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan, peneliti memperoleh hasil dan kesimpulan bahwa peran indung beurang dalam prosesi melahirkan di Kecamatan Jatigede terbagi menjadi sebelum, pra, dan pasca melahirkan. Peran indung beurang yaitu selaku orang memeriksa, menetapkan usia kandungan, merawat, memberi doa bagi yang sedang mengandung, dan sebagai pemimpin dalam setiap ritual atau prosési melahirkan yang ada di Kecamatan Jatigede. Properti yang digunakan oleh indung beurang selama prosesi melahirkan ada 38 macam berdasarkan fungsi dan kegunaannya masing-masing. Setelah dianalisis, unsur semiotik yang terdapat dalam setiap properti yang digunakan oleh indung beurang terdiri dari 12 macam indeks, 21 macam ikon, dan 5 macam simbol. This research is motivated by the lack of public knowledge about role of the Indung Beurang and the various properties used by the Indung Beurang as well as the functions in the childbirth process. The purpose of this study was to 1) determine and describe the role of the indung beurang when she take care the pregnant moms/woman, at the time of childbirth, until the child is 40 days old, 2) the roles and duties of the Indung beurang before and after a midwife comes in Jatigede District, 3) property (tool) which is used by indung beurang in the process of giving birth along with the symbols, functions, and uses of each property in the process of giving birth (from caring for a pregnant person, during childbirth, until the child is 40 days old) in Jatigede District. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative, this method using techniques to collect data with interview techniques, documentation, and literature study. Based on the research that has been done, the researchers obtained the results and conclusions that the role of the mother in childbirth in Jatigede District is divided into before, pre, and postpartum. The role of the beurang indung is as a person to examine, determine the age of the womb, care for, give prayers for those who are pregnant, and as a leader in every ritual or childbirth process in Jatigede District. There are 38 properties used by Indung Beurang during the process of giving birth based on their respective functions and uses. After being analyzed, the semiotic elements contained in each property used by Indung Beurang consist of 12 kinds of indexes, 21 kinds of icons, and 5 kinds of symbols.
