Abstract

In the minimize of the COVID-19 deployment, government has issued one of the policies to implementing online learning. The lack of online learning is that teachers struggle with controlling students, especially in elementary school. Furthermore, parents experience such obstacle as the difficult of managing their children. Thus parents, especially mothers, become irritable and prone to stress. This study aims to know the description of the stress levels of mothers accompanying children in the lower classes and the high classes online learning in the COVID-19 pandemic and to know the difference in the stress levels of mothers accompanying children between the lower classes and the high classes in elementary school during online learning in the COVID-19 pandemic. The research method used was quantitative with survey research. The sample used in this study was the mothers accompanying children online learning, which was from the lower classes were 62 mothers and the high classes were 53 mothers. The sampling was taken by simple random sampling. The instrument used in this study was a 10-item Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) questionnaire. As for the data analysis used was the univariate analysis and a bivariate analysis with the t test (Independent Sample t Test). Based on research and discussions, it can be concluded that mothers accompanying children in lower classes online learning show experience low stress 19,35%, moderate stress 79,03% and high stress 1,61%. Whereas, mothers accompanying children in high classes online learning show experience low stress 15,09%, moderate stress 83,02% and high stress 1,89%. There is no difference in the stress levels of mothers accompanying children between the lower classes and the high classes in elementary school during online learning in the COVID-19 pandemic (P = 0,556 > 0,05).
