Abstract

Keterampilan menyimak merupakan keterampilan berbahasa pertama yang harus dimiliki oleh manusia. Namun dalam pembelajarannya, masih banyak siswa yang mengalami kesulitan pada saat menyimak sebuah cerita pendek yang guru ceritakan di kelas. Maka dari itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesulitan dan faktor penyebab kesulitan tersebut dialami oleh siswa pada saat menyimak cerita pendek di kelas III sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan observasi, wawancara, tes dan dokumentasi. Subjek yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu 5 siswa kelas III sekolah dasar dan guru wali kelas III sekolah dasar. Dari hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa 3 orang siswa mengalami kesulitan menyimak karena siswa tidak memahami isi dan mengingat isi dari cerita yang guru ceritakan di kelas. Faktor penyebab dari terjadinya kesulitan menyimak cerita pendek tersebut karena faktor psikologis dari beberapa siswa yang kurang minat dan merasa bosan juga memiliki rasa tidak simpati pada saat menyimak cerita pendek di kelas dan faktor lingkungan sekitar yang masih kurang memahami keterampilan menyimak dan melatih siswa untuk terbiasa menyimak cerita. ----- Listening skill is the first language skill that must be possessed by humans. However, in learning, there are still many students who have difficulty listening to a short story that the homeroom teacher tells in class. Therefore, this study aims to determine the difficulties faced by students when listening to short stories and the causes of these difficulties experienced by students when listening to short stories in grade III elementary school. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. Data collection techniques used in this study using observation, interviews, tests and documentation. The subjects used in this study were 5 third grade elementary school students and third grade elementary school homeroom teachers. From the results of the study, it was stated that 3 out of 5 students had difficulty listening because students did not understand the content of the story the teacher told using only writing and students did not remember the content of the story the teacher told in class. The factors causing the difficulty of listening to short stories are due to psychological factors from some students who are less interested in listening to short stories and environmental factors who still do not understand listening skills. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that students do not understand the story if it is only written, but must use pictures so that students better understand the contents of the story.
