Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesulitan membaca pemahaman siswa dalam teks deskripsi dan faktor apa saja yang menyebabkan siswa kesulitan dalam membaca pemahaman teks deskripsi, tepatnya siswa kelas V di salah satu Sekolah Dasar yang terdapat di Purwakarta. Penelitian ini termasuk jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Data penelitiaan dikumpulkan melalui teknik observasi dan wawancara. Subjek dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 5 sampel siswa dan 1 guru kelas. Pengambilan data dilakukan melalui tes dan wawancara yang dilakukan secara online melalui aplikasi WhatsApp dikarenakan sedang dalam kondisi Covid-19 yang mengharuskan masyarakat untuk social distancing. Setelah melakukan penelitian, didapatkan hasil tes bahwa dari 5 sampel siswa masih kesulitan di berbagai aspek seperti kemampuan memahami isi bacaan terdapat 2 siswa yang cukup 3 lainnya kurang, memahami tema cerita terdapat 4 siswa yang masih kurang 1 lainnya cukup, kemampuan meringkas bacaan terdapat 2 siswa yang sangat kurang 2 lainnya kurang dan 1 lainnya cukup, dan kemampuan menceritakan kembali isi cerita terdapat 3 siswa yang kurang, 2 lainnya cukup mampu untuk menceritakan kembali isi cerita. Faktor yang menyebabkan kesulitan membaca pemahaman dalam anak yaitu kurangnya minat baca pada anak, kondisi lingkungan yang kurang mendorong anak untuk terus berlatih dan media yang digunakan masih kurang memadai. ----- This study aims to determine the difficulty of reading comprehension of students in descriptive texts and what factors cause students to have difficulty in reading comprehension of descriptive texts, to be exact, fifth grade students in one of the elementary schools in Purwakarta. This research is a qualitative research with case study method. The research data were collected through test and interview techniques. The subjects in this study amounted to 5 samples of students and 1 class teacher. Data collection was carried out through tests and interviews conducted online through the WhatsApp application due to the Covid-19 condition which required the public to practice social distancing. After doing the research, the test results showed that from 5 samples of students still had difficulties in various aspects such as the ability to understand the content of the reading there were 2 students who were sufficient, 3 others were lacking, there were 4 students who understood the theme of the story who were still lacking, 1 other was sufficient, the ability to summarize readings was 2 students. which is very lacking, 2 others are lacking and 1 is sufficient, and the ability to retell the contents of the story there are 3 students who are lacking, the other 2 are quite capable of retelling the story. Factors that cause difficulty in reading comprehension in children are the lack of interest in reading in children, environmental conditions that do not encourage children to continue practicing and the media used is still inadequate.
