Abstract

ABSTRACT A study of probiotic microflora from the intestine of BSF Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens Linn.) larvae effect to growth of tomato plants (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.) have been conducted. Larva from BSF have a lot of benefits, one of them is to decompose organic waste that is thought to contain many beneficial microorganisms so that the study is carried out on what microorganisms are in the intestines of BSF larvae and what is their effect for plants. The purpose of this study is to obtain information on the effect of probiotic microorganisms from the intestines of BSF larvae to growth of tomato plants and identify microflora from the intestine of isolate BSF larvae. This study is conducted by completely randomized design (CRD) method with nine treatments and three time repeats. The treatment carried out is to give 50 mL of bacteria from genus Neisseria, Micrococcus, Bacillus, Photobacterium, Enterobacter, and fungus from genus Cladosporium and Scopulariopsis and control. Identification of microorganisms in the intestine of BSF larvae is done by observe the morfology, biochemical tests, and slide culture. The measured parameters here is the stem height, number of leaves, and final root length. The data is analyzed by normality, homogenity, Anova, and Tukey tests. This study shows that microorganisms from the intestines of BSF larvae genus Bacillus, Scopulariopsis, Micrococcus, Enterobacter and Photobacterium have an effect to increase the growth of tomato plants because the average value of each measured parameter is greater than control. This study shows bacteria from genus Neisseria and fungus from genus Cladosporium doesn’t help the growth of height and number of leaves on tomato plants because it has a lower average value than control.
