Abstract

Knowledge construction is a process carried out by a person or group of people to find and process information into a comprehensive understanding. In this learning strategy, students actively build their knowledge independently. The purpose of this research is to determine the distribution of knowledge construction and to analyze the pattern of students' knowledge construction through the nature exploration strategy. This research method is mix methods. This study involved high school students with asynchronous online learning through Whatsapp groups and analyzed using Transcript-based Lesson Analysis which was then divided into 3 segments based on the essential concept of ecosystem. The results of the study found the distribution of knowledge construction namely 78 affectional responses (AF), 11 interrogative responses(Q), 8 agreement responses (Ja), 7 argumentative responses (AR), 5 informative responses (I), 4 responsive responses (A), and 2 evaluative responses (EV). The pattern of students' knowledge construction in ecosystem learning is divided into 3 segments which include: segment 1 which includes circulation patterns, segment 2 which consists of circulation and socialization patterns, and segment 3 which only consists of circulation pattern. The interactions that occur between students can greatly help students to construct their knowledge.
