Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui konsepsi, troublesome knowledge dan threshold concept pada materi kesetimbangan kimia menggunakan tes diagnostik model mental two-tier (TDM two-tier). Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi kasus dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini adalah 45 mahasiswa calon guru kimia dari salah satu universitas negeri di Bandung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan mahasiswa dalam mengaitkan ketiga level representasi kimia untuk memahami konsep masih rendah serta mahasiswa memiliki banyak miskonsepsi. Miskonsepsi yang ditemukan dalam penelitian ini diantaranya reaksi kesetimbangan bersifat statis, pada saat setimbang konsentrasi reaktan dan produk sama, pada saat setimbang laju reaksi maju dan reaksi balik sama tetapi tidak konstan, kesetimbangan hanya dapat dicapai dari sisi campuran reaktan dan produk, serta nilai tetapan kesetimbangan bergantung jumlah reaktan dan produk. Troublesome knowledge pada materi kesetimbangan kimia diantaranya konsep perubahan konsentrasi terhadap waktu dari keadaan awal hingga keadaan setimbang, konsep perubahan laju reaksi maju dan reaksi balik terhadap waktu pada keadaan awal hingga keadaan setimbang, dan konsep kesetimbangan dapat dicapai dari sisi reaktan, produk, dan campuran reaktan dan produk. Threshold concept pada materi kesetimbangan kimia adalah konsep sifat dinamis dari reaksi kesetimbangan dan konsep hubungan Qc dan Kc dalam menentukan konsentrasi reaktan dan produk pada keadaan setimbang. Kata Kunci: konsepsi, troublesome knowledge, threshold concept, tes diagnostik model mental two-tier, dan kesetimbangan kimia. ABSTRACT This study aims to find out conception, troublesome knowledge and threshold concept on chemical equilibrium using a two-tier mental model diagnostic test. Case study method used in this study with qualitative approach. Participants are 45 prospective chemistry teachers in one of state university in Bandung. The result showed that prospective chemistry teachers’s ability to move across the three levels of chemistry is low and they held many misconceptions. The misconception findings in this research such as the equilibrium reaction is static, at equilibrium concentrations of reactants and products are same, forward reaction rate and reverse reaction rate are same but not constant at the equilibrium, the equilibrium can be reached by starting with only mixture of reactants and products, and the numerical value of K changes with amounts of reactants or products present. Troublesome knowledge on chemical equilibrium such as the change in concentration of reactants and product with time, the change in rate of forward reaction and reverse reaction with time, and the equilibrium can be reached starting with only reactants, with only product, or with any mixture of reactants and products. Threshold concept on chemical equilibrium are the dynamic nature of equilibrium and the relationship between Qc dan Kc for calculating equilibrium concentrations.
