Abstract
ABSTRAK STUDI PILIHAN KARIR PADA PESERTA DIDIK SEKOLAH VOKASI TINGKAT MENENGAH Oleh: Mohammad Hanif Shobirin Riset tentang pilihan karir siswa vokasi menjadi ide awal terlaksananya penelitian ini. Dalam beberapa penelitian terdahulu, banyak yang mengangkat topik tentang pilihan karir siswa-siswi vokasi. Namun banyak dari mereka yang membahas tentang pilihan karir ditinjau dari segi prestasi siswa. Dalam penelitian ini, originalitas yang dibidik oleh peneliti yaitu mencoba membahas ekspresi siswa vokasi tingkat menengah kejuruan di Indonesia dalam memilih karir yang ditinjau dari segi jenis kelamin dan status kedua orang tuanya berdasarkan latar belakang pendidikan, pekerjaan, dan penghasilannya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif, survey dilakukan dengan menyebarkan kuisioner ke tiga sekolah vokasi tingkat menengah dan didapatkan responden dengan total 400 responden. Hasil dari penelitian ini diketahui bahwa status pendidikan kedua orang tua tidak mempengaruhi siswa vokasi dalam memilih karir antara bekerja ataupun kuliah. Namun status pekerjaan dan penghasilan kedua orang tua sangat mempengaruhi siswa untuk memilih bekerja. Hasil uji ini membuat faktor variabel pekerjaan orang tua memberi dampak yang signifikan sebesar 96 % - 98 %, artinya ada keterkaitan antara pekerjaan orang tua yang dijalani dengan pilihan karir siswa-siswi vokasi. Secara garis besar, diharapkan penelitian ini bisa menjadi gambaran rekomendasi bagi siswa-siswi vokasi sebelum menentukan karir. In several previous studies, many have raised the topic of career choices for vocational students. However, many of them discuss career choices in terms of student achievement. In this study, the originality that was targeted by the researchers was to try to discuss the expressions of vocational secondary level students in Indonesia in choosing a career in terms of gender and the status of both parents based on their educational background, occupation, and income. The research method used is descriptive quantitative, the survey was conducted by distributing questionnaires to three secondary vocational schools and obtained a total of 400 respondents. The results of this study indicate that the educational status of both parents does not affect vocational students in choosing a career between work or college. However, the work status and income of both parents greatly influence students to choose to work. The results of this test make the variable factor of parents' work to have a significant impact of 96% - 98%, meaning that there is a relationship between the work of parents carried out with career choices of vocational students. Broadly speaking, it is hoped that this research can serve as a recommendation for vocational students before deciding on a career. Keywords: Career choice; Vocational school; Education; Work
