Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran penilaian kognitif stressful budaya akademik, penyesuaian diri mahasiswa, dan hubungan antara penilaian kognitif stressful budaya akademik dengan penyesuaian diri mahasiswa. Subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa semester tiga Fakultas Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2013-2014 sebanyak 85 orang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah dengan penyebaran kuesioner, sedangkan instrumen penelitian menggunakan skala penilaian kognitif stressful budaya akademik yang diadaptasi dari teori Lazarus & Folkman (1984) dan penyesuaian diri mahasiswa berdasarkan teori Schneiders (1964). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara penilaian kognitif stressful budaya akademik dengan penyesuaian diri mahasiswa semester tiga Fakultas Ilmu Pendidikan UPI Bandung dengan koefisien korelasi sebesar -0,569 dan memiliki tingkat hubungan antara kedua variabel yang tergolong sedang. Hubungan antara kedua variabel tersebut menunjukkan korelasi yang negatif dimana berarti bahwa semakin tinggi penilaian kognitif stressful budaya akademik, maka semakin rendah penyesuaian diri mahasiswa (maladjustment). Begitupun sebaliknya, semakin rendah penilaian kognitif stressful budaya akademik, maka semakin tinggi penyesuaian diri mahasiswa (well-adjustment). kata kunci : penilaian kognitif stressful, budaya akademik, penyesuaian diri This research aims to describe the cognitive appraisal stressful academic culture, college student adjustment, and relationship between cognitive appraisal stressful academic culture with college student adjustment. Subjects of this research are college students of the third semester of E Faculty of Education, University of Education Indonesia Bandung School Year 2013-2014 with 85 of sample. This research uses a quantitative approach with a correlation method. Data collection techniques used were the questionnaires, whereas the research instrument using cognitive appraisal stressful academic culture scale that was adapted from Lazarus & Folkman's theory (1984 ) and the adjustment of college students based on the theory of Schneiders (1964 ). The results showed that there is a relationship between cognitive appraisal stressful academic culture with college student adjustment with a correlation coefficient of -0.569 and has a degree of relationship between the two variables is classified as moderate. The relationship between these two variables showed a negative correlation which means that the higher cognitive appraisal stressful academic culture, the lower college student adjustment (maladjustment). Otherwise, the lower cognitive appraisal stressful academic culture, the higher college student adjustment (well - adjustment). Key words : cognitive appraisal stressful, academic culture, adjustment
