Abstract

Fenomena penari cross gender sudah ada sejak zaman dahulu. Seiring dengan berkembangnya zaman dengan segala kecanggihan tekonologi, eksistensi penari cross gender kembali terangkat berkat adanya sosial media. Seni menari yang diperagakan oleh laki-laki yang merubah dirinya menjadi sosok perempuan tentunya menjadi perhatian masyarakat. Hal tersebut tidaklah mudah dilakukannya dari dunia simulacra ke dunia nyata. Berbagai kritikan masyarakat tidak mempengaruhi dirinya untuk tetap percaya diri. Penari cross gender memiliki makna pada dirinya sendiri untuk menghidupkan dunia panggung (front stage) dan dunia di luar panggung (back stage). Penelitian fenomenologi ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Wawancara mendalam dilakukan kepada penari cross gender yang ada di dalam sanggar seni. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa : Pertama, makna hidup penari cross gender beranggapan tidak menempatkan dirinya sebagai laki-laki normal maupun perempuan normal. Mereka merasa bangga dengan dirinya yang bisa suatu waktu menjadi laki-laki maupun perempuan. Kedua, eksistensi yang mereka lakukan melalui dunia nyata yaitu tampil dalam acara pernikahan, festival, dan acara kebudayaan lainnya. Melalui dunia maya, mereka memiliki akun media sosial untuk memberitahu publik keberadaan dirinya. Ketiga, upaya yang dilakukan penari cross gender agar tetap eksis dengan cara memiliki ciri khas dalam setiap penempilannya, mengaupdete setiap perform sesuai dengan zaman saat ini, berfikir positif dari kritikan negatif dari masyarakat. Kata Kunci : The phenomenon of cross gender dancers has existed since ancient times. Along with the development of the times with all the sophistication of technology, the existence of cross gender dancers was again raised thanks to the existence of social media. The art of dancing which is demonstrated by a man who transforms himself into a female figure is of course the public's attention. This is not easy to do from the simulacra world to the real world. Various public criticisms did not influence him to remain confident. Cross gender dancers have meaning in themselves to turn on the world stage (front stage) and the world outside the stage (back stage). This phenomenological research uses a qualitative approach. In-depth interviews were conducted with cross-gender dancers in the art studio. The results showed that: First, the meaning of life of cross gender dancers does not assume that they are normal men or women. They feel proud of themselves who could one day be a man or a woman. Second, their existence through the real world, namely appearing in weddings, festivals and other cultural events. Through cyberspace, they have social media accounts to inform the public of their existence. Third, the efforts made by cross-gender dancers to continue to exist by having a distinctive characteristic in each of their performances, updating each performance according to the current era, thinking positively from negative criticism from the community.
