Abstract

Geography learning process, still centered on teachers and monotonous, it is suspected as the cause of low rational thinking skills of learners. As an alternative solution, the author tries cooperative learning model, STAD and TGT type. The purpose of research is to describe the difference rational thinking skills of students after the implementation of the model, both STAD, TGT, and between both of them. Research carried out by quasi experimental design. Population research was junior class VII, with samples of class VII D and VII F in SMP N 1 Subang. Resposden each class of 30 people. Indicators under study is based on 10 criteria of rational thought Novak (1979). Data retrieved through tests, observations, and questionnaires. Data analysis was performed on the instrument, and the data collected, through the test of validity, reliability, level of difficulty, distinguishing, normality, homogeneity, average difference, and gain. The analysis is carried out with the help of SPSS 16 program package. The results showed the data 1. There were no significant differences in rational thinking skills of students before using cooperative learning STAD and TGT, 2. There are significant differences in rational thinking skills of learners between the results before and after the implementation of the STAD cooperative learning model, 3. There are significant differences in rational thinking skills of learners between the results before and after the implementation of the teaching model TGT, 4. There are significant differences in rational thinking skills that learners use STAD cooperative learning in which learners get the learning type TGT. Cooperative learning model STAD and TGT were able to improve the skills of rational thinking, which includes ten indicators in subjects with the subjects geography maps, atlases, and globes. That the results of this study more implementable, similar research is needed with a more comprehensive approach to the establishment of teacher models, the fit between the methodology and subject matter, the provision of time, and the learning environment. Keywords: Cooperative STAD, TGT, and Rational Thinking Skills Proses pembelajaran geografi, masih berpusat pada guru dan bersifat monoton, hal ini diduga sebagai penyebab rendahnya keterampilan berpikir rasional peserta didik. Sebagai alternatif solusi, penulis mecoba model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dan TGT. Tujuan penelitian adalah mendeskripsikan perbedaan keterampilan berpikir rasioal peserta didik setelah implementasi model, baik STAD, TGT, maupun antar keduanya. Penelitian dilaksanakan dengan desain quasi eksperimental. Populasi penelitain adalah siswa kelas VII SMP, dengan sampel kelas VII D dan VII F di SMP N 1 Subang. Resposden masing-masing kelas 30 orang. Indikator yang diteliti didasarkan atas 10 kriteria berpikir rasional dari Novak (1979). Data diambil melalui tes, observasi, dan angket. Analisis data dilakukan terhadap instrumen, dan data yang terkumpul, melalui uji validitas, reliabilitas, tingkat kesukaran, daya pembeda, normalitas, homogenitas, perbedaan rata-rata, dan gain. Analisis tersebut dilakukan dengan bantuan paket Program SPSS 16. Hasil penelitian data menunjukkan 1. Tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan keterampilan berpikir rasional pada peserta didik sebelum menggunakan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dan TGT, 2. Terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan keterampilan berpikir rasional pada peserta didik antara hasil sebelum dan sesudah implementasi model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD, 3. Terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan keterampilan berpikir rasional pada peserta didik antara hasil sebelum dan sesudah implementasi model pembelajaran TGT, 4. Terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan keterampilan berpikir rasional pada peserta didik yang menggunakan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dengan peserta didik yang mendapatkan pembelajaran tipe TGT. Model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dan TGT ternyata mampu meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir rasional, yang mencakup sepuluh indikator pada mata pelajaran geografi dengan pokok bahasan peta, atlas, dan globe. Agar hasil penelitian ini lebih implementatif, diperlukan penelitian sejenis dengan pendekatan yang lebih komprehensif dari sisi kemapanan guru model, kesesuaian antara metodologi dan pokok bahasan, penyediaan waktu, dan suasana belajar.
