Abstract

ABSTRAK Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah eksistensi dan strategi Batik Kontemporer produksi Batik Komar dari sudut pandang Seni Rupa dalam memenuhi keinginan konsumen, melalui karya batik yang kreatif, inovatif dan adaptif. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif analitik dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa kegigihan, kreatif, inovatif dan adaptif yang diterapkan oleh pemilik Batik Komar, mampu menghasilkan batik kontemporer dengan inspirasi alam, flora, fauna, bentuk geometri, pemilihan warna, dan bahan yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan konsumen di Kota Bandung serta masyarakat daerah lainnya sehingga mereka bisa bertahan bahkan berkembang sampai dengan saat ini. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini dapat diambil simpulan batik kontemporer Batik Komar memiliki keunikan yang mewakili ciri khas batik kontemporer Kota Bandung. Maka Batik Komar direkomendasikan kepada Dinas Wisata Kota Bandung, Dinas Pendidikan Kota Bandung, komunitas pengembang batik kontemporer dan peneliti batik di Kota Bandung. Kata Kunci : batik kontemporer, kreatif, inovatif, adaptif. ABSTRACT The background of this study is the existence and strategy of Contemporary Batik produced by Batik Komar viewed from the Fine Arts perspective in order to fulfill consumer demand by producing creative, innovative and adaptive batik. This study uses the descriptive analytic method with qualitative approach. The results show that the persistence, creativity, innovation and adaptation applied by the owner of Batik Komar lead to the creation of contemporary batiks inspired by nature, flora,fauna, geometric shapes, collaborated with great color selection and materials that suit the needs of its consumers in Bandung as well as other areas so that the company is able to maintain its existence and continue to establish until present. According to the results, it can be concluded that contemporary batiks from Batik Komar have unique characteristics that represent the identity of contemporary batiks from Bandung. Therefore, Batik Komar is recommended to Bandung Tourism Office, Bandung Education Office as well as communities of contemporary batik developers and batik researchers in Bandung.
