Abstract

Kemampuan membaca berkaitan kemampuan berpikir siswa karena memerlukan keterampilan memproses informasi sehingga teks dapat dipahami dengan benar. Kemampuan membaca pemahaman sangat penting untuk dikuasai siswa SMA. Hal ini karena hampir seluruh materi pelajaran disajikan dalam bentuk teks yang perlu dipahami. Namun, pada siswa berkesulitan membaca pemahaman, hal tersebut menjadi kendala dalam memperoleh pengetahuan. Penelitian ini menawarkan alternatif model pembelajaran membaca pemahaman untuk mengatasi kesulitan siswa dalam memahami isi teks dengan menerapkan strategi PLAN berbasis pengaktifan skemata. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen dengan desain subjek tunggal reversal (A-B-A-B) yakni memberikan pengulangan perlakuan terhadap subjek penelitian. Subjek penelitian ini adalah tiga orang siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas yang berkesulitan membaca pemahaman. Siswa tersebut memiliki hambatan dalam memahami teks yang dibaca. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa mengalami peningkatan pada semua tingkat kemampuan membaca yaitu literal, inferensial, kritis, dan kreatif. Pada tingkat kemampuan literal, siswa berhasil menyatakan ide pokok, hubungan sebab akibat, dan referen dalam teks. Pada tingkat kemampuan inferensial, siswa mampu menafsirkan informasi implisit dalam teks, hubungan sebab-akibat, informasi fakta, informasi opini, dan keterkaitan teks dengan kehidupan sehari-hari. Pada tingkat kemampuan kritis, siswa berhasil menguasai kemampuan mengomentari kualitas isi teks dengan disertai pertimbangan yang logis dengan melibatkan aspek keabsahan informasi, kelengkapan isi, dan kebahasaan teks. Pada tingkat kemampuan kreatif, siswa berhasil menemukan, mendesain, membangun, dan mengembangkan ide baru dari hasil membaca teks. Hasil penelitian ini dapat dijadikan sebagai alternatif solusi bagi guru, peneliti/peminat kajian membaca pemahaman untuk mengatasi kesulitan membaca pemahaman siswa. The ability to reading comprehension is very important for high school students to master. This because almost all subject matter is presented in the form of texts that need to be understood. However, for students with reading comprehension difficulties, it becomes an obstacle in gaining knowledge. This study offers an alternative model of learning to read comprehension to overcome the difficulties of students in understanding the contents of the text by applying PLAN strategies based on schemata activation. The research method used is an experimental design with a single reversal subject (A-B-A-B) which provides a repeat treatment of research subjects. The subjects of this study were three high school students who had difficulty reading comprehension. These students have obstacles to understanding the text being read. The results showed that students' reading comprehension skills increased at all levels of reading skills, namely literal, inferential, critical, and creative. At the literal ability level, students succeeded in expressing main ideas, causal relationships, and references in the text. At the inferential ability level, students can interpret implicit information in the text, cause-effect relationships, factual information, opinion information, and the relevance of the text with everyday life. At the critical ability level, students have succeeded in mastering the ability to comment on the quality of text content accompanied by logical considerations involving aspects of the validity of the information, the completeness of the content, and the language of the text. At the level of creative ability, students have succeeded in finding, designing, building, and developing new ideas from reading the text. The results of this study can be used as an alternative solution for teachers, researchers/reading comprehension enthusiasts to overcome students' reading comprehension difficulties.
